Dried Flowers, Seed Pods and Branches for your Wedding from Nettleton Hollow
I love the look of unusual dried flowers and seed pods, so when I recently learned of the treasures available at online store NettletonHollow.com (thanks Daily Candy!) I was so excited! Think of all the cool, creative DIY wedding decor possibilities…
- Accentuate your black, white and green color palette with bunches of rich, green Amaranthus flowers draped above the dance floor or around your main entrance.
- Hang seating cards and flower buds from sculptural Manzanita, Birch or Mitsumata branches.
- Place the bright and mod looking yellow Craspedia stems in simple vases down the center of a long table for a quirky modern centerpiece.
- Set a flower-like Febrifuga or curled Ram’s Head pod at each place setting with a menu tucked underneath.
- Build a simple arbor for your ceremony out of Paper Birch forks.
The dried botanicals create a dramatic look and give guests something to really explore and discuss with each other. Take them home when the wedding is over and use them as stunning home decor, or give them to special friends and family members as thank you gifts for all that they have done for you. Check out the Nettleton Hollow website and let your imagination go!
Real Weddings- Sara and Ryan
Today’s Real Wedding is one I love, love, love, because Sara and Ryan are the most wonderful couple, and Blair and I were lucky enough to be their wedding photographers! It was a day filled with celebration, laughter and love from the very beginning to the very, very end, and was an absolute joy to be a part of!
The festivities began with a true party atmosphere as the tight knit families and wedding party members got ready together, the guys in one area and the ladies in another. I adored all of Sara’s sparkling accessories, and her ruffled, layered, lace covered dress by Pronovias which was the perfect embodiment of her fun loving personality. Sara’s “something blue” appeared in two places; her adorable “I Do” Hanky Panky undies, and the little blue heart charm attached to the under layers of her dress. Even their dog got in on the action, dressed up in a pearl collar, ready to walk down the aisle. Love it!
Their bright, summery color palette of pink, orange and red perfectly accentuated the stunning natural beauty of the Kiana Lodge on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Kiana is situated right on the water, so the wedding ceremony and cocktail hour took place outdoors on their beautifully manicured grounds. Sara and Ryan chose one of their best friends, a pastor and natural public speaker as their officiant and worked with her to make the ceremony their own, full of personal touches and family involvement. It brought everyone to both tears and laughter (including us, laughing and crying behind our cameras!)
As the sun went down the party moved indoors for dinner, toasts, cake cutting and lots and lots of dancing. When it was time to head home all the guests boarded the Argosy Cruise Boat for the trip back to Seattle, and DJ Austin Beaver of Nite Lite Entertainment skillfully rocked the dance floor the entire ride home. It was a dance party like I’ve never witnessed before, and even we couldn’t resist dancing with the crowd as we continued to photograph the night away!
