Best of 2009 – Beautiful Bridal Fashion

January 7, 2010 | editorial team

To welcome in the new year, and celebrate the one that just passed, today we’re looking back at our favorite wedding fashion posts from 2009. From dramatic hair accessories to over-the-top bridal shoes to wedding and bridesmaids dresses to-die-for, 2009 was a gorgeous year! Take a look…

bridal veils and headpieces from Rosa Clara

Spanish design house Rosa Clara knocked us out with their delicate yet daring bridal veils and headpieces, not to mention their extensive collections of modern wedding gowns.

bridal lingerie from Elle MacPherson, Kiki De Montparnasse and Eberjey

In April the Junebug team produced a bridal lingerie and fine jewelry Fashion Report featuring fashions from Elle MacPherson, Kiki De Montparnasse and Eberjey, accessories from Something Blue Boutique, and jewels from Fox’s Gem Shop. We had a magical day styling and photographing with the help of our talented crew, and this original blog post gives a fun peek behind the scenes!

bridal black and white ribbon bib necklaces

Graphic, bold and ever-so-fabulous, these bib necklaces really caught on in 2009, and we just couldn’t get enough!

The beautiful NYC Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier

While in New York last spring, I got to stop by the amazing Mark Ingram Bridal Atelier and meet the man himself. Mark (and his stunning selection of The. Best. Dresses.) swept me off my feet, and it was such a joy to see how he and his talented staff make wedding gown shopping a truly special experience. I can’t wait to go back again!

Monique Lhuillier bridesmaids dress collection

In May we all received an exciting treat when Monique Lhuillier launched her bridesmaids dress collection! Available in her online shop and made to order, these dresses are just what you would expect from Monique- perfection!

daydream-worthy Christian Louboutin wedding shoes

And of course when we’re talking fashion, we can’t forget the shoes! These daydream-worthy Christian Louboutin wedding shoes from spring captured the imaginations of brides everywhere (and me especially) and starred in many a wedding fashion fantasy. I can’t wait to see what Mr. Louboutin comes up with in 2010!

Best of 2009 – Gorgeous Wedding Color Palettes

January 6, 2010 | editorial team

To go along with our Best from the Best Fashion Report, we’re taking a little look back at Junebug in 2009 and having a ball revisiting some of our favorite posts from the year. Today we’re all about beautiful color palettes and inspiration boards! Enjoy!

black, white and blush wedding color palette

This black, white and blush wedding color palette is sweet and feminine, and is a look that can combine classic and modern details in such a fresh way.

fuchsia wedding color palette

This fuchsia wedding color palette is bold, bright and playfully passionate, and could be modified for any season!

blue, gray and red wedding color palette

Created for a bride who adores gray rainy days, this blue and gray wedding color palette with pops of red brings natural elements from the outdoors in and creates a romantic and serene atmosphere.

navy and cream fall harvest wedding color palette

Our final favorite wedding color palette was put together for a bride and groom hosting a rustic and elegant fall wedding with a big focus on food! They wanted to use navy and cream as their base colors and I fell in love with the idea of incorporating the fall harvest foods they love so much as the other pops of color and interest in their decor.

Check out the original posts for all the details and resources for each inspiration board, and for even more eye candy take a look at our favorite color palettes from 2008 too!

Amazing Wedding Photography from Ivan Franchet and Jean-Pierre Uys

January 5, 2010 | editorial team

As we received submissions for our 2009 Best from the Best Fashion Report, we were thrilled to see work from so many wedding photographers who were new to us, as well as from photographers all around the world. Two artists who we were particularly impressed with (obsessed with is more like it!) were Ivan Franchet of Ivan Franchet Wedding Art Photography from France, and Jean-Pierre Uys of Jean-Pierre Uys Photography from South Africa. Both men were awarded two spots in our Best from the Best Fashion Report, and they had so many other photos that we loved, we had to share them with you today! First up is Ivan Franchet

Whether documenting a quiet moment of reflection or an emotional action shot, Ivan Franchet’s work has an incredible quality of stillness to it that freezes each moment in time in such a rich and powerful way. The two black and white images above (can you say gorgeous tonality?) were the chosen photos for our 2009 Best from the Best, and the images below are more that we adore from Ivan’s portfolio.

Cape Town, South Africa’s Jean-Pierre Uys Photography

Jean-Pierre Uys amazes us with his view of the world. The scenes he captures in his images are even better than the real-life versions, with the perfect focus, framing and geometry to highlight what makes each moment a visual work of art. The two images above were chosen (gleefully) for our 2009 Best from the Best, and the images below are more that we love from Jean-Pierre.
