Today we get to see some top wedding blog posts from blogger Jen Campbell of Green Wedding Shoes, whose passion for sharing creative wedding ideas, fun DIY projects and weddings with that special Southern California charm is evident with just one peek at her beautiful blog. We know well how much these great blog posts can inspire not only the readers, but the bloggers too, and choosing favorites can be next to imposible! When we asked Jen about sharing her own favorites with us, she said just just what we’d expect from such a dedicated blogger. “It’s so hard to pick 5 favorites, but these are 5 that I won’t ever forget…”

  • An Old World Carnival Wedding: One of my most favorite weddings! The couple really did something different and created an amazing day that none of their guests or themselves would ever forget! Love the dance floor with the upside down umbrellas and their ceremony location. The couple’s family played a big role in helping them pull off their dream wedding.
  • A Bohemian DIY Wedding: Love the beautiful photos and the overall bohemian vibe of this wedding. The location is breathtaking and goes to show that with a gorgeous location, you don’t need to do much else as far as details. I think this wedding has my favorite bridal party attire – and love her peony bouquet! :) If I had the chance to do over my wedding, I’d want it to look similar to this one.
  • Rustic Outdoor Wedding with Cotton Details: Such a beautiful venue and love all the cotton and other organic details for this wedding. Totally different + unique! Gorgeous photography + a gorgeous couple doesn’t hurt either!
  • Spanish Wedding Inspiration: This was a fun feature inspired by this inspiration board I created. Bringing together some talented vendors and a killer venue, we were able to bring these ideas to life to show brides how an inspiration board translates into a wedding. This Modern Romance captured the most beautiful photos and I still get emails every week from brides saying this is the inspiration for their wedding!
  • Underwater Engagement Photos: This couple took their engagement photos underwater then used them to create a one-of-a-kind “We’re taking the plunge!” save the date! One of the most unique + creative save the dates I’ve seen!

Bridal Bar's Harmony Walton

And, since we spent July looking back at all the fun weddings and wedding ideas we’ve featured on Junebug over the past 5 years, we thought that a great way to welcome in August would be to ask our fellow wedding bloggers what some of their favorite post have been on their own blogs! Wedding blogs hardly existed when we began Junebug back in 2006, but as the blogging community has grown we’ve loved that we’ve found so many true friends in our fellow bloggers, and we’re very proud to have been part of this creative growing industry from the get-go.

All this week we’ll bring you favorite posts from just a few of the talented wedding bloggers out there, and today we begin, of course, with Harmony Walton and her personal favorites from The Bridal Bar Blog…

  • A wedding at The London Hotel: This wedding encompasses such fantastic personal style and flair, without the couple feeling the need to recreate every trend they find on a blog. The bride shows off her sophisticated side and sense of fun and whimsy at the same time that paired with exceptional photography and her infectious smile made this wedding a stand out to me.

  • Wedding in New Delhi: This wedding had such vibrant colors, such culture, and such beauty that we gave it a weeks worth of posts. With several days of exotic ceremonies and breathtaking décor, how could we not love it? Here are links to all 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 posts!

  • The Rescue Train Gift of Love Program: This post was announcing a new non-profit program offering couples the ability to register to save animals and give donations in lieu of wedding favors. It reminds me that the blog, these posts, and the wedding industry as a whole is bigger than itself and can be used to create change and impact lives in a positive way. Its also a campaign thats dear to my heart, so its definitely a favorite.

  • Tom Cruise Wedding Post: This post was uploaded in our very first month of blogging back in 2006 and it marked a special milestone in our business so while its not as interesting to the reader, I love that it reflects our history and how our blog, as small and albeit poorly constructed at the time, marked a special moment for us that we can now forever look back on.

  • A Disneyland Engagement Session: Why is this post a favorite? Well, because anything Disney is a fave of mine! And the couple had fun with their engagement session, didnt take themselves or the wedding process too seriously, and they created photos that while themed, arent too overly styled so they can look back and love them for a lifetime to come (I have a feeling their kids one day will love these too)!

Pink, Purple and Fuchsia California Wedding – Tina and Alan

    July 29, 2011 | editorial team

Leave it to top Southern California photographer Caroline Tran to bring us a wedding that’s packed full of the prettiest wedding colors, decor details, and happy, happy people! Tina and Alan’s Menlo Park, California wedding is a true treat!

The Goals: Tina and Alan wanted an outdoor garden wedding with a fun atmosphere, and they really found what they were looking for in a venue with the Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park, California. “The Allied Arts Guild was a gorgeous venue and it was love at first sight. In the ceremony area, we loved the hydrangeas that surrounded the fountain, and the tree we stood under as we said our vows. It allowed us to have a perfect September afternoon wedding.”

The Design: Wedding colors of pink, purple, fuchsia and ivory were chosen to decorate this modern, romantic wedding, and were woven throughout many, many details of the day. Tina and Alan wanted their colors to contrast with the greenery of the garden venue and really make the ceremony and reception areas pop. Another sweet recurring wedding detail they loved was the pair of custom Kokeshi caketopper dolls they used not only on top of their wedding cake, but also on their invitation’s RSVP return envelope stamps, and as magnet wedding favors. And to beat the late summer heat? A Pinkberry frozen yogurt truck at the reception!

To honor Tina and Alan’s Chinese heritage their wedding invitations were written in both English and Chinese, and they held a traditional Chinese tea ceremony to honor their elders and receive their blessings. Love that meaningful addition!

The Look: Tina wanted a modern and clean yet romantic bridal look, so she wore a trumpet shaped wedding dress with ruffles by Alvina Valenta along with fresh flowers in her hair, and most importantly a diamond-encrusted necklace that was designed and hand-made by Alan’s father, a jeweler.

The Moments: When Tina looks back on their wedding day, she loves thinking of their ceremony under that big, beautiful tree, “Even though we were surrounded by our friends and family, it felt like it was just the two of us in the whole entire world. It was so emotional for us. When we said our vows to each other, it was the happiest moment of my life.”

Another moment that must have been so sentimental for everyone in attendance (it makes me tear up just imagining it!) was when Tina and Alan honored their families in such a respectful and wonderful way. “Both our families immigrated to the US and they sacrificed a lot to get to where we are today. We wanted them to know how much we love them and appreciate everything they have done for us, so we called them up to the “stage” in front of all of our friends and family and told them how much we loved them and thanked them for raising us. It was an extremely emotional and sentimental moment for all of us.” What a wonderfully love-filled day!
