What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Colorful, exuberant, cultural

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Since we wanted to merge two cultures but still have a traditional Indian wedding, we decided to make the ceremony as traditional as possible and the reception a regular American affair. Most of my family wore saris and I wore the traditional red and white colors for the ceremony while the reception, although still formal, was more of a party atmosphere. We wanted a peacock theme for the reception so used the cool green and blue colors along with real peacock feathers in the centerpieces, on the cupcake table, and in my hair. The DJs up-lighting in a nice cyan blue made the room look very cool and inviting.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? We love looking at the photos and remembering how fun everything was! Having a horse and sound system outside for the grooms side during his baraat was very exciting for everyone because it was a suprise. But the best part was having our extended families together for 3 days of celebration!

What was your wedding color palette? The ceremony was white, red and gold while the reception was peacock colors like blue, green and dark purples with cyan blue lighting.

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Laid back, relaxed, fun

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Both Blair and I have always loved the water and the outdoors. We wanted to incorporate beautiful scenery and bold colors in our location, which led us to the decision to do a destination wedding. Most of all, we wanted to be relaxed and enjoy the day, so we focused on eliminating as much stress as possible from planning. The ceremony wasnt until 4pm, so we had plenty of time to take in the beautiful Jamaican backdrop as well as spending time with our friends and family that were in attendance. It was really important to us to create this fun and relaxed environment. We also wanted to do something that not every bride and groom would do or would want to do; with this in mind, coupled with the Jamaican heat and humidity, the entire reception jumped in the pool after the reception! Our photographer Olivia jumped right in with us, and was able to capture some great moments from our boisterous impromptu pool party.

What were your wedding colors? We didn’t want to pick particular colors – we wanted the tropical location to be the color palette. This consisted of a lot of bright pink, aqua, and green.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?

Heather: The ceremony itself was in such a stunning location. Walking towards Blair and looking out on the ocean and beautiful scenery I knew I was marrying my best friend in the best possible way. Since my parents weren’t in attendance, having my two older brothers walk me down the aisle was very special. I LOVED my dress. It wasn’t traditional, but it was still bridal and I feel it suited my style and the location perfectly. We also couldn’t have chosen a better photographer for the occasion. Olivia fit in so well with our group, and took some amazing shots. She captured the day and our personalities perfectly. We did a trash the dress photo shoot the following day where a lot of my favorite shots came from.

Blair: I loved seeing Heather walk down the aisle, and seeing her in a wedding dress for the first time.

Vintage LA Wedding at The Smog Shoppe – Lauren and Charlie

The Couple: Lauren and Charlie

The Wedding: 9.5.10 – Smog Shoppe – Los Angeles, California

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Fun, unique, handmade

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? We both knew that we didnt want a traditional wedding, but Charlie wanted it to be a little more formal and I wanted it more casual, and we were able to strike a pretty good balance. The music was also really important, and Anthony did a great job. Brad Austin usually does gigantic formal affairs, but he really nailed the mood and look we were going for. When we saw each other for the first time, people said I looked like I was from the 1950s and Charlie looked like he was from the 1850s, but it worked!

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Getting the Coolhaus truck to come in turned out to be incredible, although we were worried that it was going to be a disaster. Also, finding the Smog Shoppe and an amazing set of vendors all made the day really special. We were happy that we could do so much ourselves – Charlie made the beer and I did a lot of the decorations, and we did little touches like writing the seating assignments on old windows. Seeing Charlies parents do the horah is a standout memory. People still talk to us about how much they enjoyed the wedding, which is a really nice feeling.

What was your wedding color palette? Teal, yellow, magenta, and other bright colors.
