Tammy Yi has been in the beauty game for 10 years, so when it comes to a bridal beauty regimen, she’s got a few tricks up her sleeve to ensure her brides are simply glowing come their wedding day.

Pre-wedding Pampering Dos and Don’ts

  • Treat your skin with care for the months leading up to your wedding – keep in mind that trying anything too drastic may cause an unwanted reaction.
  • Don’t tan your face right before your wedding. Dry, peeling, red skin is a makeup artist’s worst nightmare. Your makeup artist should be able to give you the sun kissed look that you want.
  • If you decide to get a facial with extractions or any sort of intense exfoliation, do so a couple of weeks before your wedding day. Give your skin some time to heal.
  • Get your brow waxed at least a week in advance. The delicate skin around the brows after a fresh brow wax is does not adhere with makeup.

Working With Your Makeup Artist

  • When you are searching for your a makeup artist, I highly recommend a trial before the big day. You want to be absolutely certain that you and your artist are on the same page and he or she knows exactly how you would like to look on your big day.
  • Arrange with your artist to schedule yourself to be done with your makeup and hair closer to the time you need to be ready for photos. You do not want to be the first done out of your bridal party.

Long-lasting Beauty Tips

  • You want to make sure you have the proper touch up products to make sure you look fresh throughout your wedding day. Make sure you have setting powder, lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss, and highlighting concealer pen.
  • To make your blush last all day. Use a creme blush first and then set with a light blush to prolong the wear of your blush.
  • If you would like your lip color to wear all day. Buy a lip stain to wear under your lipstick.

Elegant and Modern Wedding Inspiration Photo Shoot

February 24, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

For the modern bride, today’s inspiration photo shoot is pure perfection! An elegant white, gold and grey color palette for the fashion and decor creates a calming atmosphere with proteas, ferns and succulents adding the perfect unexpected pops of color. It’s unique, glamorous and so very lovely. Thanks to Studio Uma for sharing her stunning photos with us and bravo to the talented team of creatives!

Thoughts from Photographer Uma Sanghvi of Studio Uma: I love the modern, minimalist aesthetic. I love it in design, in architecture and fashion. There’s something understated and yet so dramatic about these modern bridal looks that our wardrobe stylist, Cristina Facundo, put together for this shoot. Of course, all things “rustic” are having their day in the sun! But being the rebel that I am, I wanted to play with a theme you don’t see everyday. When I stumbled across the award-winning Kimber Modern boutique hotel in downtown Austin, with its elegant minimalist design, I knew it was the perfect backdrop for a styled shoot!

Vibrant Urban Wedding in Los Angeles with Photos by Jeff Newsom – Sonia and Vince

February 24, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

When newlyweds Sonia and Vince began planning their Los Angeles wedding, they had the perfect vision inspired by the city they hold dear. They wanted to capture the “urban, thriving, and vibrant” atmosphere of LA – and they certainly succeeded! Wedding photographer Jeff Newsom, whose work on Sonia and Vince’s wedding earned him a place in Junebug’s 2013’s Best of the Best Wedding Collection, captured every touching moment and all the details of the day.

The Design: Our wedding was inspired by our love of growing up and living in Los Angeles; we felt that SmogShoppe represents everything that is beautiful about the city — urban, thriving, and vibrant. I’m also attracted to bright colors and floral prints– which softened the venue’s concrete and masculine space. Special and unique details include bright floral print bridesmaid dresses, a standout head table dressed with a lace, sparkly, white linen layered over a coral-colored linen, vintage cans for centerpiece containers, a topography chalkboard sign for the bar hand drawn by Vince, and a Claire Pettibone dress with a floral lace illusion back detail.

The Moments: Sonia – I have two favorite moments: (1) Saying our vows. We wrote them ourselves and did not share beforehand, but they were both surprisingly similar and we both referenced the same line from one of our favorite songs. Our guest laughed and cried with us — it was special! (2) My second favorite moment was meeting Vince’s grandmother for the first time. She was so lovely and sweet!

Vince – My favorite moment was my first look at Sonia in her wedding dress. Her dress was not only stunning, but it was also my first time seeing her all day. The anticipation of walking down the aisle, coupled with the sound of her shoes coming down the steps did very little to dampen some pre-wedding jitters — it was worth the wait!

The Photography: Jeff Newsom was perhaps the easiest decision we made while planning our wedding. His artistic vision is unique to his photos, and we felt he was the only photographer who could really capture the theme we were hoping to achieve. The best thing about working with Jeff is how comfortable he made us feel in front of a camera. The hardest thing about working with Jeff is choosing which photos to hang on our wall because there are simply too many amazing shots to choose from!

The Advice: Be confident with your ideas and vision for your wedding. Listen to input from others, but trust your gut instincts. Our parents were initially not on board with the idea of having our wedding in a former car shop, with non-matching linens and chairs, family-style dinner service, etc. But we tried to include them in our planning as much as possible, and we eventually won them over with our version of a perfect wedding.
