Elegant DIY Wedding at the Historic Prallsville Mills

Jessica and Mark’s elegant DIY wedding was full of beautiful, natural character, photographed by Storytellers & Co. The historic mill venue, adorable details, and the bride’s lace tea-length gown made their wedding original, rural, and chic. The fact that the bride, groom, and family members did nearly everything from invitations, cupcakes to floral arrangements on their own made their wedding day all the more special.

The Couple: Jessica and Mark

The Wedding: Prallsville MillsStockton, NJ

The Inspiration: We both agreed that we wanted our wedding to be simple, natural, and personal to us. We had to go a little out of our area of New Jersey to find the perfect venue, but when we finally did we knew it was the one – a historic grist mill on the Delaware River. Because the building already had so much character (beautiful wooden floors, stone walls, deep-set windows, and even some of the original mill machinery), there was little we felt we needed to do as far as decor. The same rules applied for the fashion. I wanted a simple yet elegant dress, and I found the perfect tea-length, lace cap-sleeved dress in a tiny and lovely bridal shop in the West Village. We wanted everyone to feel like themselves, and not like they were overly done up for a wedding, so we only set a few basic fashion rules to follow and everything turned out perfectly!

Charleston, South Carolina Wedding at The William Aiken House from Paige Winn Photo

August 30, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

The Southern charm of Charleston, South Carolina can be seen alive and well in the photos of Amanda and Hodge’s wedding at The William Aiken House! (Great work Paige Winn Photo!) I love the way this couple mixed traditional, romantic elements with casual Southern details, like a dinner with fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, shrimp and grits and barbeque.

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Our venue, The William Aiken House, really inspired most of the decisions we made regarding our wedding. The venue really reminded me of something out of The Great Gatsby. We wanted it to feel like a really romantic Charleston garden party. We had lots of incredible lighting and chandeliers and chose mostly Charleston-inspired southern cusine with fried green tomatoes, crab cakes, shrimp and grits and barbeque.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? When we initially chose to have an outdoor wedding we knew we would really be taking a gamble with the weather. All week there was an 80 percent chance of rain and a tropical storm coming through on Saturday and up until hours before the wedding we thought we were not going to be able to have our wedding outside in front of the gorgeous pergola. All of the sudden, the skies went from gray to completely blue and we knew that we were in the clear. Right after that, my husband and I had our first look and our excitement was palpable not only about seeing each other, but we both knew that we were about to have the wedding of our dreams.

Ballet Inspired Wedding Editorial Photo Shoot at Gosford Castle

August 29, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Constantly inspired by movement and light, wedding designer Alise Taggart and photographer Paula O’Hara came together to create this beautiful ballet inspired wedding editorial shoot. Much like a bride on her wedding day, a dancer is graceful and elegant, and so came about the inspiration for their collaboration. Perfectly described by Alise as “hauntingly beautiful,” we simply couldn’t resist sharing their gorgeous shoot with you!

Here are few words from Alise Taggart on the inspiration for the shoot: This editorial shoot was all about movement and light. We wanted to create something that was a bit different and would make your heart skip a beat. The crumbling interior of Gosford Castle provided us the perfect setting for this hauntingly beautiful shoot. Ballet is so dreamy and moving, similar to a bride on her wedding day. The soft pastels and satin ribbon contrasted the incredibly intricate gowns provided to us by Trash Couture and Maria Lluisa Rabell.
