Joshua Tree Styled Shoot

Desert locales are becoming the latest hot spot for free spirited couples planning bohemian inspired weddings. Photographer Betsi Ewing shared this breathtaking styled shoot with us, and we loved the beautiful colors contrasting with the desaturated desert landscape, as well as the impeccable styling. Here’s a little background on the styled shoot from the talented team:

When Betsi first approached us with her vision of a dream-like desert wedding, we instantly knew the perfect location. Sacred Sands Bed & Breakfast, just outside of the Joshua Tree National Park, is an absolute gem of a venue set smack in the middle of the desert. We brought in Flowers By Leah, who created the gorgeous floral design focusing on oversized pink peonies offset with succulents and bits of polished desert stone. Alice at Flowerfetti provided the golden confetti cones, and for the final touches, the Rebel Belle team scoured local vintage shops to hand-pick tableware as well as display pieces for our handcrafted dessert, sparkling golden churros. Betsi pulled one of a kind vintage dresses from LA local Just Say Native and had unique handcrafted headpieces sent straight from Hushed Commotion in NYC. Another bi-coastal comrade Elissa Ruminer handled the makeup and hair on set with models Annelise and Corey. Magic!

Sweet and Traditional Wedding in Missouri

December 22, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Missouri-Traditional-Wedding-9

A traditional wedding doesn’t have to be ordinary, and we love how Hillary and Derek kicked things up a notch with elegant winter styling and DIY elements for their sweet church wedding. Catherine Rhodes Photography did a beautiful job capturing the love and natural inspiration that were so vivid in Hillary and Derek’s celebration.

The Couple: Hillary and Derek

The Wedding: Stephen’s College Kimball Ballroom, Columbia, Missouri

The Inspiration: “The inspiration for our wedding decor was incorporating our favorite things with our favorite people and really represented us as a couple. I love girly shabby chic decor and Derek is an avid hunter who loves the outdoors. Our wedding theme was based around our mutual love of nature with elements of hunting and feminine florals. Derek cut wood from his farm, one of our favorite places to spend time together, to make placecard holders and coaster takeaways for each of our guests which we then branded with our wedding motif. We hoped to send our guests away with a small piece of us and the things we enjoy together.

The Moments:

Hillary: “My favorite moment from the wedding was the special music performed by my sister, brother, uncle and friend. It was the most magical moment greeting our parents during such a personal music performance.

Derek: “Putting the ring on her finger and sitting together watching our friends and family share in communion.

The Couple Recommends: “Our photographer Catherine Rhodes truly became our friend and captured our relationship and story so perfectly. She is a total professional and artist and we are so grateful for finding her. Catherine helped us pick vendors in the area and plan more than just photography. Catherine was focused on our vision and hopes for the day even if what we had in mind went against her personal recommendations she used her expertise to orchestrate it beautifully. Additionally, she was another avenue of support for us during some of the chaos the day brought and helped keep us focused on what was important.
