Rustic Lake Tahoe Wedding

When it comes to picturesque views of both mountains and water in the backdrop of your wedding, there is no better destination than Lake Tahoe. Ashley and Dustin’s rustic Lake Tahoe wedding was both sweet and elegant with light pink, gray, and gold accents throughout the otherwise natural and organic wedding décor. Sun + Life Photography captured such special moments as the couple’s first look, Dad walking Ashley down the aisle, and the absurdly beautiful sunset over the celebration.

The Couple:

Ashley and Dustin

The Wedding:

Gatekeeper’s Museum, Lake Tahoe, California

The Inspiration:

Rustic elegance and the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. We really wanted to make sure that our wedding was a reflection of us, and our love for our friends, family and the outdoors. Choosing to get married in Lake Tahoe was an easy decision. I was born and raised in Tahoe City, and as a couple we’ve created so many wonderful memories there over the years.

Our wedding was truly a family effort. My dad handmade the beautiful copper and wood BAR sign, my uncle crafted the doors for the entrance to our ceremony, he also made the corn hole and Jenga game for people to enjoy during cocktail hour. We handed out my grandmother’s heirloom handkerchiefs for people to use for their “happy tears” during the ceremony, and my aunt designed our programs, menus and other signage. Dustin and I handcrafted all the chalkboard and barn wood signs. We also designed our save the dates and our wedding invitation suite. It was a true joy to see it all come together the day of our wedding.

The Moments:

I have so many amazing memories from that day; it was truly the best day of our lives, but one memory that really stands out is our ceremony. We worked closely with our officiant, Mark Frady, to compose a beautiful ceremony that incorporated so much of who we are as a couple. Our mothers each read a reading we had chosen, and Dustinand I wrote our own vows, which was incredibly emotional, heartfelt and special. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house!

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographers and videographer. Dori and Jeff with Sun + Life photography are so awesome to work with. They are great people, down to earth, always made us feel comfortable, and our photos are truly amazing!

We went back and forth on the additional expense of a videographer, however we decided that it was important to us, and we’re so happy we sprung for it! Johnny B captured the spirit of our love and our wedding day so perfectly. Our video is something we will treasure for a lifetime.

Glamorous Moroccan Wedding

February 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Glamorous-Morroccan-Wedding-Natan-Fotografia (33 of 34)

Pulling inspiration from two of the most visually enchanting stories, Idia and Will’s glamorous Moroccan wedding aspired to showcase the dreamy aesthetic of The Secret Garden and the glitzy romance of The Great Gatsby. Stunning bride Idia wore an elegant veil with a vintage lace headpiece that stole the show and perfectly complemented the overall theme. Natan Fotografia captured the incredible Marrakech venue and exquisite styling, as well as sweet moments shared by the newlyweds.

The Couple:

Idia and Will

The Wedding:

Dar Ayniwen, Marrakech, Morocco

The Inspiration:

Once we had set our sights on Morocco, there was only one venue — Dar Ayniwen — set in the ‘Palmeraies’ area of Marrakech. Dar Ayniwen has a beautiful garden, and we wanted our guests, who were coming from all over the world (the US, Europe, Asia and Africa), to dine and party outside.

Inspiration for the wedding theme and fashion was Secret Garden meets Great Gatsby, so although relaxed and natural, we wanted bow ties, cocktail dresses and chandeliers.

The Moments:

There were many! Seeing Idia walking down the aisle, she looked amazing! Enjoying our caleche ride from the church to the venue. Performing our first dance.

The Couple Recommends:

Stephane – the owner of Dar Ayniwen – a brilliant host and now friend. We did not have a wedding planner but working with Stephane remotely did not disappoint. Stephane hosted us all in his former family home/boutique hotel for our entire stay, he sourced the chandeliers and set up all the decoration at the venue and ensured the food was delicious. You can trust Stephane – highly recommended.

Artistic Boudoir Inspiration from Gabe McClintock

February 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Real-Natural-Boudoir-Gabe-McClintock (20 of 26)

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, we wanted to share a special treat with you. Boudoir photography has evolved over recent years into a more natural and authentic art form that focuses on showcasing the beauty of the human form using light and shadows, angles, and genuine sexuality. Master photographer Gabe McClintock has taken this new boudoir movement to the next level with this breathtaking and inspiring collection of portraits.

Here’s a little insight from Gabe about his approach to boudoir:

Most know me as a wedding photographer, but lately I have been shooting a little more boudoir. I wanted to experiment and I wanted to put my take on it. I am just trying to offer something perhaps a little different, something that is natural. Real and honest.
