Canoe Wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge

February 7, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Canoe-Wedding-Banff-Orange-Girl (19 of 21)

The incredibly icy blue waters around Emerald Lake Lodge were what initially drew us to this wedding, and then we fell in love with Janice and Diego’s sweet love for each other (and their pup!). A great color scheme is one that complements the venue, and Janice and Diego’s pastel orange and lavender color palette perfectly accented the blue water backdrop. Orange Girl Photography captured such stunning images of the newlyweds paddling around in a little red canoe, which are definitely our new favorite couple portraits.

The Couple:

Janice and Diego

The Wedding:

Emerald Lake Lodge, Field, British Columbia

The Inspiration:

Emerald Lake lodge itself was the inspiration for the wedding. With such a beautiful backdrop I wanted to keep things pretty, classy and simple. I spent a lot of time online looking for ideas, and integrated things to keep it personal. Our wedding was super small, with only immediate family and one friend each, just 30 people. So it was important to me that everyone feel included and special.

The Moments:

My favorite moment would have to have been the time after the ceremony when Diego and I paddled out onto Emerald Lake on the canoe. It was such a perfect day, and we had a couple of minutes together alone to take it all in.

The Couple Recommends:

Kristie Tweed with Orange Girl Photography was amazing! She is seriously the most thoughtful person ever, even after the wedding was done she continued to amaze Diego and I. I recommend her to everyone, best investment ever! Love all of our pictures!

Casual Outdoor Wedding in White Salmon, Washington

February 7, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Camping-Wedding-in-Washington-Terra-Lang (12 of 25)

Natural weddings are trending for 2015, and it’s easy to see why when looking at a wedding that allows the great outdoors to provide a breathtaking and effortless setting. Margo and Jim chose a private residence overlooking the Columbia River Gorge and used camping-inspired elements like metal mugs, flannel blankets, firewood, and even tents strewn around the site. Photographer Terra Lange beautifully captured the scenery, the emotional, handwritten vows, and the casual pizza dinner that made Margo and Jim’s wedding so special.

The Couple:

Margo and Jim

The Wedding:

Private Residence, White Salmon, Washington

The Inspiration:

The wedding was at a private residence in White Salmon, WA overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. We decided to keep it simple and let the natural beauty do most of the work. The decor we did bring in was purposely casual and natural, such as succulents for the tables, blankets and throw pillows amongst the guest’s tents, yard games, and camping mugs to go with the wood fired pizza.

The Moments:

Oh my goodness it’s impossible to choose just one moment. There were so many: the first look and driving with our amazing photographer in a ATV to the cliffs for our initial photos, the sunset dinner overlooking the river, the family toasts, the bluegrass country band and dancing under the string lights. Truly an amazing time we will never forget.

Gorgeous Lake Wedding in the Columbia Valley

February 6, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Earthy-Lake-Wedding-Brittany-Esther (18 of 30)

Choosing a ceremony venue with sentimental value can be such a precious way to honor your time spent there as a couple. Blair and Enoch were married at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in the Columbia Valley, a sweet and intimate church with just enough room for the bride and groom and their families. The small service and special day were photographed by Brittany Esther, who captured such beautiful portraits of the newlyweds embracing by the lake.

The Couple:

Blair and Enoch

The Wedding:

St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Columbia Valley, British Columbia

The Inspiration:

“The mountains shall bring peace to the people” is a sign that sits on the side of the road, greeting people as they enter the Columbia Valley. It has always been a cherished thought and feeling whenever we visit the lake. We wanted our wedding to blend the simplicity of the outdoors, the elegance of still water, and the peace of the mountains. And so our colours were the colours of the valley – hues of cream, white, green, various shades of brown, with hints of gold. Our dresses were simple with clean lines and flowing, sheer fabrics. I chose neutral makeup, (with bright lips, of course!) and tied my curly hair back with rosemary. The men wore classic blue suits, once again to reflect the colour of the lake.

The Moments:

Enoch: Probably seeing Blair dance with her Dad and seeing how beautiful she was and is and knowing that this was the woman I get to spend the rest of my life with.

Blair: It is hard to say what my favourite part of our wedding is – there were so many special moments that occurred throughout the day that still bring a smile to my face. If I had to choose one moment it would be the ceremony in its entirety. Our service was held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, or more commonly known as ‘The Stolen Church.’ It is a small, quaint white church with a red roof that has window boxes full of flowers. As the church is so very small and there isn’t any standing room, both Enoch and I had to ensure that only those closest to us attended the ceremony – mainly our families. Upon entering the church, feelings of love, warmth, and support surrounded both of us.

Ceremony Venue – St. Peter’s Anglican Church
Reception Venue – Strand’s Old House Restaurant
