If there’s one thing that gets our hearts racing, it’s an epic engagement session in a phenomenally beautiful location. Charis Rowland Photography captured Mayka and Bill’s engagement photos at Lands End in what is one of our most favorite engagement shoots to date. Between Mayka’s lavender Christine Alcalay gown blowing in the wind and the supremely golden light, every angle of this photo session is breathtaking.
The most extraordinary rainbow stretched across the sky just as Karen and Chris walked down the aisle to exchange vows in their breezy Napa Valley wedding. The Carneros Inn provided a sweet apple orchard for the wedding ceremony, where the newlyweds were joined by their son in a bear hug that made our hearts grow at least three sizes. Larissa Cleveland Photography was fortunate enough to capture all of these incredibly special moments in a wedding that was as personal as it was beautiful.
Overall, the idea was for the wedding to be sophisticated, but simple and natural. For my dress, the one word that kept coming to me was “ethereal” and Lea (who designed my dress) did such a great job capturing that.
The Moments:
It was incredible that just as we walked in, a rainbow appeared behind us and framed the ceremony as we stood in the apple orchard with the vineyards in the background. The other best moment was when sealed the ceremony with a kiss, my son Owen came up behind Chris, hugging him. We then enveloped Owen and each other in a hug, feeling the incredible love of our new family.
The Couple Recommends:
Larissa Cleveland was amazing. From the time we met her she was professional, helpful and so sweet. One of the things to think about with a photographer, is this is the person who will be with you through the whole day, and you want someone you are comfortable with. I feel like we became friends through this process.
I also really appreciated Neil Hunt at Hunt Littlefield Flowers because he really listened to me and helped me define what I was saying I wanted. I am obsessed with the color green (chartreuse specifically) and yet, I didn’t think I should have it in the ceremony. He convinced me I must include it and I am so glad we did. His flower arrangements and bouquet were creative and amazing.
Several of our friends told us that Pop Fiction was the best band they had ever heard and we all danced all night. The floor was packed!
We couldn’t have had the wedding without Brooke Baglietto at The Carneros Inn. She took care of every detail, treated us like we were the only couple she was dealing with and was a complete pro. I highly recommend her and the Carneros Inn. It was the perfect venue.
Finally, Peter Chung did such a beautiful job of singing before and during our ceremony. In addition to having an amazing voice, his humility is remarkable for such a talent.

The Kentucky Derby is the epitome of celebrating springtime, classic preppy fashion, and The South. Since Kirsten and Andrew love all three, a Kentucky Derby inspired wedding at a horse park in Atlanta was exactly their cup of (sweet) tea! With mint juleps in hand and Vineyard Vines bow ties abound, the Chastain House Park celebration was delightfully Southern and irresistibly chic. Tessa Marie Weddings beautifully captured the day, and we can’t stop looking at her images of Kirsten and Andrew’s first look by the babbling brook.
We were married at the Chastain Horse Park, which is a very unique wedding venue in Buckhead. We had been engaged the previous year over Kentucky Derby wedding, and we both love horse racing, whiskey cocktails, wide brimmed hats, and all things southern. A “Kentuky Derby- inspired Southern wedding” seemed like the perfect fit for us and our venue. The boys wore Vineyard Vines bow ties with mint julep cups and horseshoes, we served mint juleps as our signature cocktail, our highboy tables had arrangements in mint julep cups, our koozies had a racehorse with the tagline “…and they’re off,” I put out collectible mint julep cups from the Derby for each year we’d been together, etc.
The Moments:
Our first look. I was so excited for Andrew to see me in my dress and to see how handsome he looked in his suit and bowtie. It was a special time because it was really the only time we got alone before the wedding and we were able to reflect on the gravity of the day and what it meant to be getting married.

Of course Tessa Marie – she is incredibly sweet, accommodating, professional, and talented. I also loved working with Katie Lloyd from Boukates. I changed my vision a few times, and she was very quick to help draft up a new plan. The flowers were fresh, fit within my budget, and were more beautiful than I’d anticipated.
