Green Wedding in Audubon Canyon Ranch

May 31, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Green-Wedding-in-Audubon-Canyon-Ranch (34 of 36)

Kelsey and Christa exchanged vows at Martin Griffin Preserve at Audubon Canyon Ranch in Stinson Beach, California! The natural beauty and thriving, wild plants created an incredible backdrop for this romantic outdoor wedding! Neutral florals, natural light, and handmade touches added to the overall bright day. And, to make things even sweeter, the guests roasted marshmallows and took home homemade honey! Gifting themselves, the couple enlisted the help of the incredible Rachelle Derouin Photography to capture the big day!

The Couple:

Kelsey and Christa

The Wedding:

Martin Griffin Preserve at Audubon Canyon Ranch, Stinson Beach, California

The Inspiration:

Natural. We were very minimal with decorations because the ceremony and reception were at the most beautiful venue, the Martin Griffin Preserve—it totally spoke for itself and reflected who we are and what is most important to us. The theme was meant to be approachable, laid back and again, natural looking, using neutral tones and utilizing lots of flowers to add more detail and color. The best decorations were the amazing people in our lives who came together in such a beautiful place and laughed and cried and celebrated with us.

The Moments:

Christa: Walking toward Kelsey as he waited at the end of the aisle. Other great memories were practicing our first dance at our rental house in the days leading up; spending the morning of our wedding on the beach together; cramming into a mini-SUV with all of my bridesmaids to drive ourselves to the venue; receiving amazing toasts from family and friends; watching my grandma get down on the dance floor; and feeling the exhilaration of finally walking down the aisle as husband and wife.

Kelsey: Exchanging our vows. I was really nervous; public speaking isn’t my thing, but I was so excited to make those promises to Christa in front of our closest family and friends. I had waited years to marry her and was so happy it was finally happening. My other favorite memories were our first dance to “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding, a song we’d been planning as our first dance since our first year together. The whole set up process of the wedding felt really special because we were with our favorite people getting the place ready. It made the lead-up to the day really fun and memorable.

The Couple Recommends:

Rachelle Derouin was incredible. She captured our day with such a unique lens and general compassion for us as people. She exuded professionalism, but also love for the day, for Kelsey and me, and for her work. You can tell that when she’s with you, there’s no place she would rather be and that is reflected in her superlative work. I couldn’t recommend her more highly. She’s a gem and someone who is special to us forever because of the memories she captured for us.

Family-Centered Portuguese Wedding

May 31, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Family-Centered-Portuguese-Wedding (19 of 31)

For Carlos and Cátia, family was the most important aspect of their bohemian styled wedding in Portugal. The couple chose the bride’s grandmother’s house for the big day because of the sentimental value and the “feeling of belonging there. Home-cooked meals, colorful, rustic decor, and live music produced the perfect ambiance for the couple to exchange vows. Instead of carrying a traditional bouquet, the bride wore a floral necklace, which was a beautiful, unique touch to her gorgeous laced gown. The amazing Pedro Vilela Photography captured the sweet, genuine moments spent at this intimate Portuguese wedding.

The Couple:

Carlos and Cátia

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Entroncamento, Portugal

The Inspiration:

We chose to have a wedding at my grandmother’s house because that is where I spent my childhood. I love that place and the feeling of belonging there. The decoration was all about that, all the small details belong to our childhood: photos, music, flowers, etc. It was a mix of what we loved most and some rustic props from my grandmother’s house. For example, Carlos used a traditional cap from our region — Ribatejo. I didn’t want to carry the bouquet, so I used a flower necklace. It was a perfect idea.

Artistic Australian Wedding at Summerlees Estate

May 30, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Stitched Panorama

Danielle and Benjamin’s enchanting forest wedding is like no other! Surrounded by dark, natural greenery, wood elements, and vintage mismatched flatware, their wedding at the Summerlees Estate in New South Wales, Australia was unforgettable. The groom created a breathtaking original art work that mirrors the couple, and it is surely the focal point of decor. Ribbons winding all the way to the alter allow the couple to be surrounded in love as they exchange vows. On his way to the ceremony, the groom road in an original Back to the Future DeLorean, which added to the eccentric wedding design. The bride wore a custom designed gown and held coral, tan and white florals. Topping off this incredible wedding day, the talented photographers at I Got You Babe captured beautiful moments of the couple immersed in their romantic forest wedding!

The Couple:

Danielle and Benjamin

The Wedding:

Summerlees Estate, New South Wales, Australia

The Inspiration:

We wanted a rural, ethereal, Alice-in-wonderland meets woodland fairy feel. All elements gelled well – especially Benji‘s whimsical ribbon art work and the vintage pieces I sourced. Together, my mother and I collected over 40 vintage plates, dessert plates and napkins to adorn the brunch table – everyone was gifted a valentines day card, a unique antique dinner plate, a piece of pure Rose Quartz that had been cleansed and charged by a shaman with love, passion and positive energy, and a ‘Shine’ canvas tote to carry everything home in!

The Moments:

There were so many moments – I’d like to say the whole experience to be honest… It was such a happy, love-filled Valentines Day. To be able to spend it with everyone we love was so special and a day we’ll never forget. The happiest moment for both of was locking eyes with each other as I walked down the aisle and then reading and listening to each other vows under Benji‘s ribbon arch. Benji would probably say it was the moment the wedding gift I organised as a surprise – an Original Back the Future Delorean – arrived to drive him to the wedding!

The Couple Recommends:

We absolutely fell in love with – and have adopted into our family – both Lilli and James (photographer and videographer). We chose them both for their individual artistic abilities and are so pleased with their work. They both contributed to the happy energy on the day and we are so glad to be seeing them both again soon! We’ve definitely made two friends for life. We also want to mention Patty from Summerlees Estate who we absolutely love too. Patty’s positive, cheerful vibrations and energy makes Summerlees Estate the magical wonderland that it is. A super special shoutout must also go to Chef in Your Kitchen, Kelly went above and beyond to make sure my food requirements were met, as I’m a integrative nutritionist and soon-to-be natural foods chef who wanted to be very involved in what we ate. All the food was organic, grass and pasture fed. It was truly one of the most delicious meals we and our guests have eaten – we are still getting rave reviews! Oh! And we also had three wedding cakes – the ‘main event cake’ was made for us by the ever-so-talented Simon Hulm who is a close friend of ours, thanks Simon!!! And the other two cakes were lovingly made by the bride’s soulsisters, Emma and Carla Papas, who made a paleo salted caramel cake, as well as a special bide-only creation consisting of all her fav ingredients: organic coconut oil, coconut butter, berries, walnuts and cacao – YUM!!
