Quirky Elegant Wedding at Camp Mataponi

August 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Quirky-Elegant-Wedding-Camp-Mataponi-Catherine-Rhodes-Photography (19 of 28)

Held at a girls’ camp in Maine, Ali and Jon’s elegant wedding was perfectly quirky in every way. The pair shared their first look along a wooden staircase outside of a cabin at Camp Mataponi before saying “I do” in a field overlooking Sebago Lake. Catherine Rhodes Photography captured exceedingly gorgeous portraits of the newlyweds as they explored the camp grounds together, and she beautifully documented stunning details like the lavender and pink bouquet by Watershed Floral and the bride’s glittering hairpiece by Twigs & Honey.

The Couple:

Ali and Jon

The Wedding:

Camp Mataponi, Naples, Maine

The Inspiration:

We got married at Camp Mataponi, which is already such a beautiful venue. I knew we wouldn’t have to do too much to make it really pop. If we had to name our theme, I guess it was rustic elegance with a touch of quirkiness. I wanted to let the flowers do most of the work, and Sarah from Watershed Floral really delivered. The flowers were stunning and brought so much life into the space.

For wedding day fashion, I wanted to look like an ethereal fairy princess (I’m secretly still 12 at heart). I loved my dress and shoes from BHLDN and my belt and hair piece from Twigs & Honey.

The Moments:

Our favorite moment was the first look. Catherine, our photographer, had suggested we do this and I am so glad that we did. You’re just bursting at the seams with excitement and anticipation. To be able to have that moment alone to just be with each other and really take in the moment was really special. We were both able to breathe after that and we were able to head to the ceremony without the jitters…mostly ;)

The Couple Recommends:

Catherine from Catherine Rhodes Photography was so wonderful to work with. She was responsive and super helpful with hashing out all of the “day of” details. She also made us feel so comfortable during our formal pictures. We are overjoyed with how the photos came out.

Sarah at Watershed Floral did an amazing job. We knew at our first meeting with her that we were in good hands. She was responsive and with a few photos of inspiration from us, she really just nailed the look we were going for.

So happy with the choices that we made for our big day. It wouldn’t have all come together without them!!

Backyard Fusion Wedding in Ontario

August 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Backyard-Fusion-Wedding-Ontario-Sean-McGrath-Photography (2 of 26)

Hien and Rob’s fusion wedding couldn’t have been more personal as it joined two different cultures and two different families together in one backyard in Ontario. The bride honored her Vietnamese background by donning a traditional red gown for the first part of the wedding ceremony, before changing into a sleek Maggie Sottero gown for the Western ceremony and reception. Luckily, photographer Sean McGrath was present to capture everything from the outfit changes to the quiet giggles shared between the newlyweds on their big day.

The Couple:

Hien and Rob

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Ontario,

The Inspiration:

With two ethnicities uniting, we wanted to respect both traditions in terms of ceremony. So we had a traditional Vietnamese ceremony in the morning and then I was able to walk down the aisle to Rob in the afternoon.
But we wanted to have one big party for our reception! Drinking and dancing is a universal language that everyone can connect to! The fashion and decor reflected that as well. The fashion was elegant, lightweight and movable for the dance floor!

The Moments:

We both agreed that our favourite moment from our wedding was when we first saw each other. At that moment, we knew how much we’ve been through in the past 8 years and how much love there is and always will be. It was in that moment, we knew that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and the vows we were about to say are words we will forever hold true.

The Couple Recommends:

Sean McGrath is hands down the best thing that happened to us for our wedding. When we were looking for a photographer, we had a specific style in mind. We wanted our day documented through moments and not poses. We wanted timeless editorial shots and he gave us that and more.

Sean exceeded our expectations! He was so easy to work with, he captured the best moments and he was a blast to have around. His work/portfolio speaks for itself and we would recommend him a thousand times over to anyone looking for a photographer that will take pictures that will last a life time.

The Wedding Team:

Photography – Sean McGrath Photography
Event Planning & Floral Design – Rossini Floral & Event Planning
Ceremony Venue – Private Residence
Reception Venue – Greek Canadian Club
Videography – Wyton Weddings
Wedding Dress – Maggie Sottero

A special thanks to Hien and Rob for sharing their fusion wedding in Ontario with Junebug! For more of Sean McGrath Photography‘s work, check out Andrea and Paul’s romantic New Brunswick beach engagement.
