Intimate San Francisco Wedding at Wayfare Tavern

When Chelsea and Ben decided to elope at San Francisco City Hall, they didn’t skimp on the glamour! The bride looked like a princess in her tulle BHDLN gown, while still being comfortable enough to traipse through San Francisco as a newlywed with Anna Kraft Photography. After a windy portrait session with the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance, the couple rejoined their intimate wedding party at Wayfare Tavern for dinner in the dark wood dining room.

The Inspiration:

Easy-going, classic, with an edge? Haha… I needed a dress that I could walk around in San Francisco all day and be comfortable in and still feel like a bride. Though we were eloping, we still wanted it to feel like our wedding day which is why we chose to wear a traditional tux, bridal gown.

The Moments:

The day was just so, perfect. It was truly the best day of our lives and we are both so happy that we chose to do it the way that we did. The best thing about it all was just being able to focus on us, and be present and soak it all in. Which is what it’s supposed to be all about, right?

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographer, Anna Hein of Anna Kraft Photography, was an early childhood friend who I had lost contact with. In adulthood, I found her on Facebook and fell in love with her wedding photography. She flew out from Austin, Texas and spent the entire day from start to finish taking photos. It felt like spending the day with an old friend, which allowed us to be intimate and relaxed, and take amazing photos with Anna all day long.

Minimalist Wedding in the Alvord Desert

No ceremony venue or reception decor were necessarily for Sarah and Sage’s minimalist wedding where the couple tied the knot in the middle of a desert — literally! An intimate ceremony took place in Oregon’s Alvord Desert where the casual couple exchanged emotional vows and hugged each of their beloved wedding guests as soon as they were pronounced husband and wife. Sage’s desert chic groom style included a bolo tie and boots, but the real fashion star here is Sarah, whose windowpane jumpsuit and straw sunhat were effortlessly chic and impossibly cool. Photographer and dear friend of the newlyweds Free The Bird captured epic portraits of the first look and desert campfire that document memories each wedding guest will forever hold close to their hearts.

Alvord Desert, Harney County, Oregon

The Inspiration:

We are simple people and we wanted the main focus of the wedding to be the location. We love the outdoors and wanted to bring our immediate family and close friends to one of our most favorite places in Oregon. The location really doesn’t need any decoration or embellishment. The sky, the ground and the sun and clouds were perfect. My mom, a former florist, gathered desert flowers and sage from the campsite to make my bouquet and Sage‘s boutonniere.

The Moments:

Immediately following the ceremony, we got to hug each and every one of our guests. It was so special to us to thank everyone for trekking so far out of town to celebrate us. We all lined up for a giant group photo on the playa. It was incredible to see all of our wedding guests shoulder to shoulder in such a breathtaking place, to be with us and celebrate our love.

Jai of Free The Bird is our wedding guru and great friend. We knew we wanted him to be our photographer before we even knew where we would be married.
