Alternative Beach Wedding at Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel

When Allison and Paulo first started to plan their wedding, the only thing they knew was they wanted to incorporate their favorite colors and lush green plants into their big day. They hadn’t thought about any of the big decisions yet, and that’s when they decided to call in their talented planner Martina of Yes I Du. From there, Martina set out to create Allison and Paulo’s dream wedding at Valamar Dubrovnik President Hotel in Dubrovnik, Croatia. With a gorgeous ocean view, the couple exchanged vows in a beach setting before heading to a tent covered reception. Amazing photographer Petar Jurica stole the couple away for a bit to capture the most breathtaking couple portraits among the eroded architecture.

From the bride: I knew I wanted to incorporate shades of my favorite colors (green and peach), air plants, and succulents. Outside of that, I really had no clue. Thank god for Martina (our wedding planner) who was able to turn our ideas into a more beautiful reality than we could have ever imagined.

Advice from the couple: Our first recommendation is to invest in a good wedding planner like Martina! I know some ladies like to take charge and plan every last detail by themselves, but having the support and expertise of a professional made the whole process go very smoothly and took a lot of pressure off of us, especially since we were planning a destination wedding. You can still be very involved in all the details, but it is wonderful to have a planner who is coordinating behind the scenes. It is especially important on the wedding day so you can enjoy your wedding without the stress of having to coordinate.

Wildflower Inspired Wedding by the Colorado River

Bright wildflowers, farm tables, and a breathtaking natural scenery perfectly intertwined to create Geneva and Andy’s bohemian styled wedding. AA Barn in Grand Lake, Colorado offered a beautiful oasis for the couple to exchange vows. We love how the couple added an untraditional aspect to their big day by walking each other down the aisle. Talented photographer Preston Utley captured the sweetest moments Geneva and Andy spent at their wedding by the Colorado River.

From the couple: Our favorite moment from the wedding day was when we walked down the aisle together. It represented how we support each other, and it set the tone for our marriage.

From the couple: We wanted our attire and decor to be simple and tasteful, and our own. We wanted to show our guests how we live and celebrate. We kept the decor at the ceremony to a minimum, just wooden benches for the guests and a vintage rug at our ceremony spot by the river. The barn, mountains and Colorado River provided the rest. We chose attire that matched our own personal style and colors to complement the outdoor scenery.

From the couple: Because we were having the reception in a tent, we wanted to add more color and warmth to the space. The farm tables gave a rustic feel to the space, and we chose a mix of bohemian colors inspired by the wildflowers we used as centerpieces. All of the centerpieces were mismatched to create a down to earth atmosphere, and the market lights added warmth. We also added the gold moose as a shout-out to the local wildlife.

Free-Spirited Grandfather Mountain Wedding

You may recognize this free-spirited couple from their engagement session, which we featured back in July. Well, the bohemian vibes carried through to their Grandfather Mountain wedding! We’d be lying if we said these images by Rivkah Fine Art didn’t make us a little teary; she so beautifully captured the immense love between Laura and Phil, as well as the love they share with their friends and family. Comfort was key in the casual North Carolina wedding, from the couple’s low-key wedding day fashion to the ground seating at the ceremony to a true family-style reception.

I would have to say our “First Look” that Rivkah set up for us in the woods was the best part of the day. It was the first moment that day in which I got to gaze upon the man I get to spend the rest of my days with. I stood in awe and appreciate of him and reflected on the special memories we have shared up until that moment and look forward to the ones to come. Phillip and I made conscious efforts to be “present in the moment” throughout our wedding day. And in that moment we were so aware of one another that the emotions were practically unbearable. We felt so blessed and grateful, and still do, for all that we have in life and in each other.

Phil and I are very free spirited individuals. We both are creatives and wanted to have a very non-traditional, inviting atmosphere that was creative and comfortable. So that is how the woodland/ boho vibe was created.

The most important things to Phillip and I was that we didn’t want to lose focus on what was the point and purpose of our wedding day. We wanted to create an environment where everyone felt special and comfortable to be themselves a place where we could enjoy and celebrate our union. We wanted our wedding to be inviting and laid back. Much like we are. We also wanted to honor our families and friends and of course create a space for God’s presence to be felt. Many of our friends said that it was as if the heavens opened up just to gaze upon our wedding. WOW, what a complement!
