When two people wait fourteen years to say “I do,” you can guarantee that the wedding will be chock full of emotion. Grab your tissues, because if Kelly and Corey’s first look doesn’t get you, the way the bride honors her mother on her wedding day definitely will. Kelly happens to be the Marketing Coordinator at Castleton Farms, where she and Corey were finally hitched after being in love for the majority of their lives. The modern rustic decor that filled the Tennessee venue grounds is utterly pinnable, but it’s the unbelievably sweet moments shared between this couple that makes their wedding so special.

The Couple:

Kelly and Corey

The Wedding:

Castleton Farms, Loudon, Tennessee

From the groom: There was one moment where time moved slow. All day you prepare to tie your life to this one person. The day belongs to you and her, this one special girl that means everything to you, ya know? But then they don’t even let you see her. You are being walked around with your eyes covered and being told, “Don’t come upstairs,” for fear you might see her. That is why the first look will forever be my most vivid memory of my big day.

You tell yourself you won’t cry. You won’t be cliche. You’re not like the other guys. And then she taps you on the shoulder. You turn around, and in this moment, you know that your life is going to be better from this day on. You know that no guy could ever see her like you do. All of the tears, laughs, and inevitable things about love have brought you to this moment. And it’s here, while you’re wiping tears off your new overpriced tie, you understand why a wedding is beautiful.

Fifty years from now, I will never forget the smile I saw when I turned to see my bride during my first look. Hopefully it will feel just like it was yesterday.

I’m the Marketing Coordinator at Castleton Farms, so of course it was in the running. However, I was far from sold on having my wedding there. I even told Corey I didn’t want to. I felt it was expected I would, so I wanted to be different. After many conversations with our Director, she assured me we could create a day that was exactly what I wanted, even if it wasn’t what they were used to doing. The team at Castleton is my family. I’ve spent countless hours and late nights working to give every bride the experience she wants down to the tiniest little detail with this family. I can’t imagine marrying my best friend anywhere else.

My absolute favorite wedding DIY project was the homemade dessert bar. I have the world’s most serious sweet tooth, but I had no second thoughts when choosing my wedding cake. My mom passed away when I was 16, and I wanted to honor her in an unconventional way. Every time my aunt and I get together, we bake my mom’s favorite cake recipe: a super delicious fresh apple cake. My mom’s love language was quality time. She loved having everyone in one place, simply enjoying each other’s company. And what does cake do? Brings people together! Friendships are made over conversations about how yummy it tastes and how we probably shouldn’t be eating as much as we are. Cake brings people together.

We gave away handwritten recipe cards for my mom’s apple cake recipe (that my bridesmaids so graciously helped with the night before the wedding), and in return, asked people to share their favorite family recipes with us!

A Winery Wedding with Jewel Tones and Cozy Vibes at Stonewall Estates

March 23, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Winery-Wedding-Jewel-Tones-Cozy-Vibes-Stonewall-Estates-Christian-Garcia-Photography-16

It was an early fall day at Stonewall Estates when Erin stood in her lace Watters gown beneath a simple arbor to say “I do” in marriage to the love of her life, Asaf. The pair enjoyed a wedding celebration as beautiful as they imagined, complete with a palette of jewel tones and plenty of fun with their guests from start to finish. The newlyweds couldn’t be happier with the images Christian Garcia captured on their wedding day. In fact, one of their favorite memories from the day involved him whisking them into the vineyard just after the ceremony for a few quiet moments alone in the stunning grounds of the venue.

The Couple:

Erin and Asaf

The Wedding:

Stonewall Estates, Niaggara, Ontario

I put together an arbor for the ceremony portion of the wedding. I found a simple metal arbor and attached silk flowers. We wanted something to signify the spot where we stood, however we didn’t want to spend a lot on decor.

I wore a beautiful lace dress called the Kerry gown by Watters. I wanted a slim line dress that had a unique style. I wanted a touch of glam so I made my birdcage headpiece to complement the look.

After our ceremony, our amazing photographer whisked us away into the vineyard where he took photos of us together next to the grape vines. This was our first moment alone together after such a memorable experience.

The choice of wedding colours were inspired by the time of year. I have always been fascinated with dark plum and jewel tone colours so it was fitting for early fall.

We love entertaining, and having people over, and a key element in a great evening is having people feel welcome and relaxed. We thought those two elements would be great to create the foundation of a perfect wedding vibe.

Our photographer Christian was a dream to work with. He was able to catch such special moments. He handed us a beautiful tin at the end of the night as a gift with a few Polaroid’s of the night. We were both so touched.

Unique Wedding Venue Alert: You’ve Got To See This Swimming Pool Wedding in Manchester

March 23, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

Unique-Victoria-Baths-Wedding-in-Manchester-Millie-Benbow-27

If you’re not yet familiar with the Victoria Baths, this wedding in Manchester is going to wow your socks off. The empty swimming pool venue is exactly as incredible as it sounds, with a vintage color palette, tile covering every inch of floor and wall, and a vastness that makes the couple feel as if they are the only people on Earth. Siobhán and Eddie kept the decor simple, highlighting the spectacular venue with a large scale display of greenery and a Persian rug. From a stellar selection of wedding cakes to Siobhán’s romantic bridal style, Millie Benbow Photography beautifully captured each and every detail that make this Victoria Baths wedding one of our all-time favorites.

We wanted the whole day to be super relaxed and non traditional as it was as much a homecoming party as a wedding. The venue itself is so stunning that we kept the decorations simple with large scale greenery, paper lanterns and a huge Persian rug used in the ceremony and as a stage for the band. The smell of the eucalyptus and gum leaves in the ceremony and reception rooms really stood out and made it feel like home away from home.

We decided on poems instead of readings and said our own vows. Mine was a poem, “A Vow” by Wendy Cope, and Eddie’s was a combination of a few poems and some lines that we wrote together. We were really quiet, just saying them to each other, which made it even more special.

For the confetti, my friends and I made bags of bright tissue paper circles all different sizes. We found out that confetti wasn’t allowed in the venue, but they let us throw this and it looked awesome!

I got my dress from Catherine Deane only a few months before the wedding. It was out of budget when we were first planning, so I bought a back up dress and bided my time. I was so happy when I managed to get it in the sale; it was absolutely perfect. It’s a vintage 1920s/1930s style in champagne with appliqué details and pearls, fitted bodice with low back, a column shape and floor skimming — so no heels required! I’m quite fair skinned, so the champagne colour suited much better than traditional white, and the skirt part was loose enough for me to eat lots of cake! I had my long hair braided into a messy up-do with the flower crown to one side, it was so beautiful — better than I had imagined. I wanted a mix of vintage and Bohemia so added rose gold/silver bangles (a wedding present from Eddie), an aqua pony hair clutch, nude flats and my leather jacket. I did my own make up (with the help of my sister Fiona): flicks and red lips which is my usual going out look.

So we could catch up with as many people as possible, we decided against a top table and sat on the middle trestle with family either side and friends in front and behind. We moved seats for each course and switched tables for dessert, it happened naturally on the day. Having a dessert table also meant people could meet and mingle more easily, bonding over their favourite cake or sharing their love of all things cheese.
