Valine and Amar’s two-day wedding in Essex combined Hindu traditions with vintage styling and a whole lot of personality. Though the Hindu ceremony was purely based in tradition, the couple opted for a serene shade of teal for their wedding clothes, rather than the custom red. Valine and Amar’s shared love of travel inspired the Japanese-influenced reception decor, including colorful paper lanterns, origami birds, and a cake adorned with cherry blossoms. Bridgwood Wedding Photography brilliantly captured the happy couple as they enjoyed their party of a lifetime, dancing the night away to our favorite Alicia Keys tune.

For the Hindu ceremony, I did not want to go for the traditional red colour, as this would of been too overpowering. When I saw the mint and silver Lengha, I instantly fell in love with it, as it was not over the top, which can be the case with some Indian wedding garments, and it had a real soothing feel to it.
For the civil ceremony, I wanted to go for a 1930s vintage look to complement my elegant wedding dress which was accessorised with a pearl and subtle diamante band and a french lace 3/4 length veil.
My husband proposed in Japan hence the Japanese themed wedding including decor and food . For the Hindu ceremony it was influenced by bright Indian decor, clothing and food.
Fundamentally, we wanted our wedding to be an epic party that friends and family would remember and would go away saying “Wow that’s exactly what I needed, a weekend wedding full of fun and laughter.” Secondly, music, art, and our love of travelling were interests that we incorporated into both our Japanese-themed and Hindu wedding, as the majority of our guests we friend different parts of the world who held the same passions.
