This Irish Wedding at Galgorm Resort and Spa is the Epitome of Understated Elegance

Cat and Aaron’s wedding at Galgorm Resort and Spa was a simple expression of elegance and pure class! Aaron’s all-time favorite movie is Top Gun, so Cat surprised him with a celebratory ride after their ceremony in a Top Gun-inspired Porsche Speedster. Cat wore a gorgeous lace Laure de Sagazan gown and added some ethereal glam to her bridal look with a gold and moonstone tiara. Chris Copeland Photography captured every detail of the couple’s day beautifully, including their elegant reception decor and some of the most perfectly romantic florals we’ve ever seen!

The Couple:

Cat & Aaron

The Wedding:

St. James’ Chapel Aldergrove & Galgorm Resort and Spa, Belfast, Ireland

We wanted the day to reflect our personalities and the things we love. Our favourite city is Paris so we chose to have our table numbers in French. Our wedding car was a Porsche Speedster from Aaron‘s favourite film, ‘Top Gun.’ Our favourite cocktails were used for the drinks reception and all the songs throughout the day had special significance to us as a couple. But most importantly, we wanted to have a ‘party’ with our friends and family that we would never forget.

I didn’t particularly want a ‘typical’ wedding dress and found it hard to get a dress I had envisaged. Rachel at The White Gallery got my style and vision. I opted for a simple Laure de Sagazan dress which had a delicate scalloped lace detail and silk bottom. It was lightweight so I could move easily and most importantly meant I could dance. My headpiece was my statement which I absolutely loved. It was a moonstone, enamel and 14k gold plated floral headpiece by Luna Bea. Along with my veil it was by far my favourite wedding accessory.

We chose to have our service in a small chapel in Aldergrove where my grandparents got married and lived beside. My uncle did the service for us and friends and family were involved throughout.

The most memorable part of the day for us was the drive from the Church to the Galgorm Resort and Spa. I surprised Aaron with a Porsche “Speedster” which was the car from his favourite movie Top Gun. The drive itself wasn’t exactly the most comfortable but it was the only time we were alone the whole day. The reality that we were now “Man and wife” had sunk in and it felt awesome.

The Renaissance Suite in the Galgorm has a simple elegance and a neutral palette. It suited the vibe I was going for the wedding…understated and ethereal. Aaron and I had also spent time here for special occasions.

You can be easily swayed or influenced by people’s opinions and ideas but you’ve got to stick with your vision and what you want. Remember the day is about you as a couple and it should reflect you as people. Things will go wrong leading up to and on the day …it’s inevitable, but only you will know about it. So, take it all in your stride and enjoy each and every moment! Not everyone will notice the finer details so don’t fret about the small things. So as long as there is good music, people dancing and everyone smiling…you’re sure to have a fab day that people will talk about for weeks!

Enchanting Industrial New York Wedding at The Cracker Factory

As soon as Aria and Jonathan stepped foot in The Cracker Factory, they knew it was the perfect wedding venue for them! This effortlessly elegant venue’s floor-to-ceiling windows allowed the couple to integrate their snow-covered upstate New York surroundings into part of their naturally wedding décor. Aria and Jonathan made their décor special by using gold details and tons of greenery to complement the industrial venue’s tall brick walls and wooden accents. We love how Ebersole Photography captured the couple’s wedding with enchanting and perfectly lit images!

Having a photographer we could trust to capture the real emotions of the day was really important to us. Ultimately, we wanted everything to be peaceful and joyful….which it was, so all our ideas and decorations revolved around that. I may also have been really specific about the flowers and greenery we had!

When we decided to get married in the dead of winter (ha), we knew we had to find a venue that would show off the beauty of winter. We didn’t want to escape it, rather almost let the snow be apart of the decor, if you will. Both of us really value atmosphere, so we also knew we wanted our venue to have a whimsical, elegant, but peaceful feel. We were absolutely sold as soon as we stepped foot into our venue! It was surrounded with floor to ceiling windows that let in all the natural light, and the brick walls with white wood beams fit every vision we had.

Neither of us could have anticipated how emotional and sacred the ceremony was going to feel. The amount of peace and pure joy we felt while committing our lives to one another in front of all our friends and family was indescribably special.

Our photographer Danny exceeded every expectation we had. He knew exactly when to be decisive, and when to be laid back. He was the photographer that you had hoped would capture absolutely everything, but you never noticed him. One of the many things we loved most about Danny, was how he captured the actual emotions and atmosphere of the day; he didn’t just capture photographs. All of the candid moments bring us right back to the wedding day, and the smiles and looks he captured were so genuine. We feel like we had the best photographer there is with Danny behind the camera. It doesn’t get better than Danny, it just gets different. He made our day that much more special.

Our advice: Have a wedding planner! Our friend did our wedding planning and she absolutely saved our sanity. I would also say to know the vision you’re looking to create and prioritize what truly matters to you based on the vision. Lastly, try to stay flexible and enjoy the process. The day of your wedding, the only thing worth focusing on is the person you’re marrying and the people you’re surrounded by.
