Boho Beach Wedding at La Playa Beach and Golf Resort

May 26, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Jordyn and Patrick’s wedding at La Playa Beach and Golf Resort combined beach vibes with bohemian decor to create a dreamy and relaxed feel! The couple wanted to give their out-of-town guests a true Florida experience, so they opted for a venue that was right on the beach and chose a neutral and airy color palette of white and ivory with sage green accents. They also kept the details casual and fun with simple florals, DIY decor, and a special hang-out area just for the children. The bride looked stunning in her Grace Loves Lace wedding dress and barefoot sandals, and the groom was equally stylish in an off-white linen suit and sandals. We love how Trenholm Photo captured every beautiful detail and moment of this wedding, especially the couple’s sunset portraits near the water!

The Couple:

Jordyn and Patrick

The Wedding:

La Playa Beach and Golf Resort, Naples, Florida

I knew what I wanted right away. I have always liked “different”. I found my dress very early on from Grace Loves Lace. The boho beach vibe was what I had been dreaming of since I was a little girl. Once I found the dress, the rest just fell into place!

We always knew we wanted to have a destination wedding. Naples is a very sentimental spot for both of us. Pat grew up going there as a child and has had a condo their his whole life. My family and I frequently visited when I was a child, as well. It’s hard not to fall in love with Naples!

My bridesmaids wore off-white Show Me Your Mumu dresses, which I love because they were able to personalize them. We all wore barefoot sandals and flower crowns. I was also in love with the flower girls dresses! They looked like boho princesses in their off-the-shoulder linen dresses, no shoes, and flower crowns.

The boys had custom suits made. The boys were able to customize their linings and add their initials in the coat pockets. We wanted them to look nice but still a more causal vibe, so they didn’t wear ties. They left their shirts causally unbuttoned, and they all wore their own belt and sandals of choice. Most of them didn’t wear shoes for the majority of the night, and they roll up the bottom of the pants to look more casual and beachy. They looked so good! All the white tones were gorgeous standing side by side.

There were so many amazing memorable experiences throughout the day. The most memorable was that my grandpa was able to travel down to Naples to be our officiant. Hearing his voice in our wedding video is a gift I will cherish forever!

Our photographer, Austin of Trenholm Photo, was incredible!!! He has an eye for detail and candidate moments. He gave direction when needed but really captured the feel and vibe of the day, start to finish. He was extremely encouraging and comfortable to work with. His constant encouragement and compliments kept us feeling our best every step of the way. I never felt nervous or uncomfortable. He kept me at ease the whole time.

Kaleidoscope Floral really helped to bring the vision to life. Their choice in flowers sealed the deal! The white flowers with green accents and the pampas grass could not have been more perfect. They really seemed to understand the vision from the beginning, so I let them go with it! The vases and candles running the table were so simple and elegant – it was a boho beach dream!

There were so many DIY projects, the list goes on forever, but some of my favorites were the dream catchers! My mom and aunt made 17 different sized dream catchers for decoration. We had them hanging everywhere! For months before the wedding, we went to second-hand stores looking for different materials or laces to use. They turned out to be gorgeous!! All our of guest were asking were to buy them.

Another favorite DIY was the “kids table.” We bought pillows and rugs so they could have their own hang-out section. They loved it!

This InterContinental Koh Samui Wedding Has the Most Breathtaking Ceremony

May 25, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Between the stunning ocean views and the floating ceremony space overlooking a lush rainforest, our minds were blown by Monique and Kris’ wedding at InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort! The couple chose a crisp and airy color palette of sapphire blue, white, and silver to create a sophisticated and classic feel that didn’t interfere with the natural beauty of the resort. For even more “wow” factor, The Flowers Factory created an impressive floral ceremony arch, as well as two totally unique cascading orchid bouquets for the bride and her bridesmaid. Monique looked gorgeous in a romantic Yolan Cris lace ensemble and glamorous hair and makeup. Jonathan David Photography did a beautiful job capturing every detail and breathtaking view of this wedding, including the couple’s sunset portraits on the pier!

For my bridal look, I wanted something classic, but a little bit different. The thing that I love the most about my Yolan Cris dress is that it’s actually a top and skirt! I’ve gotten quite a bit of wear out of my bridal top since the wedding day, which was important to me when choosing my wedding look. I had accents of blue and silver with my earrings and Manolo Blahnik heels. I went for a dark lip and dark nail color to bring a bit more of my personal style to the overall look.

Our advice is to have fun during your portrait session! These are photos you’re going to look back on for the rest of your life, so don’t make it an awkward experience. This is one of the few times during the day where you’ll have alone time with your significant other, so make it count!

Wild and Unforgettable Kenya Elopement at Masai Mara National Reserve

May 24, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Doris and Sam’s Kenya elopement is hands-down one of the most adventurous, exhilarating, and culturally diverse weddings we’ve had the honor of featuring on our blog! The couple spent their first day exploring the Sopa Resort at Lake Navaisha, where they encountered wild birds, giraffes, and zebras before hopping in a Land Cruiser for a safari tour through the Masai Mara Game Reserve. On the second day, they ventured out into the desert with a group of Maasai tribe members for a traditional Kenyan ceremony on the grounds of Governor’s Camp that included an ornate beaded collar worn by the bride, a jumping ritual performed by the groom, and a special blessing from the tribe’s elders. It’s hard to put into words the pure magic of this elopement, so we’ll let these phenomenal photographs captured by Tu Nguyen Wedding tell the full story.

The Couple:

Doris and Sam

The Wedding:

Governor’s Camp, Masai Mara, Kenya

From the photographer’s blog: Sam and Doris could totally share the same vivid wanderlust feeling toward Mara as me – You never know what’s around the corner. It could be everything. Or It could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back, you climbed a summit mountain. Or got married in Kenya, somewhere out in the middle of nowhere, with your best friend, surrounded by lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos and rhinos.”

Stepping into the enormous, chartreuse nine-seater Land Cruiser Jeep at Lake Naivasha, our game driver has warned us about the undeveloped road systems to (and in) Masai Mara deter heavy traffic and help to preserve the exclusivity of the experience for those who visit. That this 100-km road is the real deal of Masai Mara Game Reserve. I only smiled.

I remember Sam singing, dancing and whooping with the young Masai men – the traditional Masai jumping dance to prove their strength and manpower to the women. I remember the Masai elders spitting milk on the feet of Sam and Doris as a blessing of always having plenty of food and healthy children.”

I just felt that we have something different in our souls now, our hearts feel heavier because of the spirit of a new world that has just been built. You know over time, these brilliant images will keep dancing and showing up as the most beautiful memories: friends, lover and fellow human beings. My adventure with Sam and Doris has come to an end, to open up a new journey into the future.
