Drawing inspiration from their favorite shared activity, Laura and Tom threw a whimsical music festival wedding to celebrate their marriage. From a laid-back outdoor ceremony to a rockin’ reception with a live band fronted by the groom, their wedding was every bit the summer festival they imagined. York Place Studios brilliantly captured the easy-going vibes of the day, as well as some truly amazing images of the fireworks that closed out the night.

The Couple:

Laura and Tom

The Wedding:

Malmains Farm, Kent, England

The Inspiration:

Tom and I love going to festivals in the summer, and had recently been to the Shambalah music festival which we had both loved thoroughly. Tom had always wanted to get married at his family home, which I was very happy with. As we love festivals and being outside we instantly knew we wanted to get married under the oak tree, with a really natural feel. We decided we wanted an easy going, family and friends orientated day and the festival feel encompassed this. Tom is also in a band and he has always wanted to play with his band on his wedding day, which further added to the easy going, hippy festival that suited our idea of an ideal wedding. It was all topped off with fireworks that gave it a final magic touch.

The Moments:

Both of us agree that it was the ceremony that was our favourite part of our wedding. I walked through the field to a group of our friends playing ‘Home’ by Cinematic Orchestra, with all of our friends and family sat on hay bales. We both loved the moment we caught each others eye and realised we were both so happy that we were getting married in front of all the people we care about. It was one of our best friends that officiated the ceremony that was very personal to us, with my sister reading the poem ‘I carry your heart.’ We wrote our own vows which was yet again very personal to us. As we wanted more of a ‘people’s wedding’ we ended the ceremony with everyone singing ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley for us to walk away from the ceremony to.

The Couple Recommends:

York Place Photographers captured our day wonderfully without interrupting the day; we are blown away by the stunning prints. Pippa, our wedding planner, was amazing on the day. Everything ran so smoothly it made it thoroughly enjoyable for us with no hiccups (which I am sure there may have been, but she covered them well!). When thinking about it, all the professionals stood out as there was not one part of our day that was not wonderful!
