Milwaukee Wedding at The Wisconsin Club – Beau Petersen Photography – Micki and Brian

October 4, 2013 | Junebug Weddings

What first struck me about Micki and Brian’s wedding at The Wisconsin Club was the ease and laughter among everyone in attendance, particularly the wedding party. Everyone was having the best time and looked fabulous while doing it! The bridesmaids wore gorgeous pink lace dresses from Watters – I’m sure they’ll be wearing them again! Beau Petersen Photography documented all the lovely details and stayed on his toes to capture all of the playful, goofy moments too. Elegance and fun, what could be better?

The Couple: Micki and Brian

The Wedding: 10.26.12 – The Wisconsin Club – Downtown, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

The Goals: We wanted to keep the wedding planning fun and low stress, so we kept things simple.

The Design: We wanted the design to be elegant and romantic yet welcoming for all of our guests. The natural beauty of the ballroom at The Wisconsin Club was accented with white calla lilies and white hydrangea centerpieces. The place settings were off-white over off-white tablecloths with personal thank yous for each guest in place of a favor. The head table was decorated with our gorgeous bouquets, mine filled with white calla lilies and hydrangeas and the bridesmaid with burgundy calla lillies. All the bouquets had pearls flowing down the fabric on the stems to replicate the back of my dress which had buttons trickling down to the end of the train. All of our flowers were done by the mother of one of the bridesmaids, she’s amazing and made the day more personal and more beautiful than I ever imagined! For dessert we wanted to serve something that we really enjoyed, so instead of cake we had a frozen custard sundae bar and we served Kopp’s Frozen Custard. If you are ever in Milwaukee, you must stop and try the famous Kopp’s Frozen Custard, it’s amazing! We also rented a few outdoor heaters to encourage people to enjoy some cigars and good conversation outside on the patio. Which was captured by our amazing photographer Beau Petersen Photography.

The Look: I wanted my look to be classic and elegant with a contemporary touch. After only a couple of weeks spent with some very patient bridesmaid searching for a dress, the Alyne gown I found at Miss Ruby was beautiful from the moment I tried it on. There were only a few things I was unsure about with the style of the dress, but after a few discussions we made the alterations I wanted and it was perfect. Once we removed a few layers of tulle, included an off-white colored sash (sewn into the dress), everything was almost perfect. The large pearl necklace pulled everything together and gave the dress a little extra drama, then it was perfect! The blood red pumps I wore gave a subtle splash of color for the finishing touch.

When starting my search for the perfect dress, I had all intentions of buying a lace gown. Since the Alyne gown changed my plans, the bridesmaids added the lace touch to the wedding day. The girls looked absolutely gorgeous in their blush colored lace Watters dresses. I knew I wanted a dress that they could wear again, so this was perfect. They would have looked amazing in anything they put on, but WOW, did they look great! Hair, makeup, shoes…that was all up to them! As for the boys we wanted them to look classy and traditional and wanted them to wear something that they could also wear again. Black suits, white shirts and black ties while the groom wore a charcoal grey suit. They looked great!

The Moments: My favorite part of the day was the smile on my husband’s face when we walked through the doors exiting the church. Beau caught it perfectly in one of his photos! But tied for first, was the surprising adventure my bridesmaids took an hour before the ceremony without me knowing. To this day I still do not know how they pulled it off.

The Advice: Keep it simple and enjoy the whole process. The style of your wedding should be about the both you, add little pieces for him and his family as well as you and yours. Take a few moments together to step away from everyone and just watch during the reception! ENJOY IT!
