Falling in love with a venue is often similar to falling in love with your soulmate: you love them just as they are and can’t imagine changing a thing about them. Erin discovered The Beauregard-Keyes House for her New Orleans wedding and knew it was perfect. She decided to honor the historical venue by not adding a great deal of décor, and instead let the beauty of the vintage New Orleans venue speak for itself. Photographer Maile Lani astutely captured the spirit of the house, as well as the excitement of Erin and Jonathan’s wedding parade in the streets that followed their intimate ceremony.
The Couple:
Erin and Jonathan
The Wedding:
Beauregard-Keyes House, New Orleans, Louisiana
The Inspiration:
I grew up in the United Kingdom and have always been in love with 1920s-1930s English vintage styles. I therefore fell in love with The Beauregard-Keyes House as it reminded me of many of the British country mansions I used to explore as a child. The house is just so beautiful that I did not want a lot of decorations to take away from its natural splendor. We chose muted colors of light pink, ivory and sage green for our florals that were accented by mercury glass and lots of candles and lanterns on the porch and in the back courtyard. Jonathan and I also love traveling, so our centerpieces included vintage postcards from cities we have traveled to as a couple around the world.
The Moments:
Jonathan and I are both still talking about the amazing second line parade we had around the French Quarter. It was so special to dance in the street with all of our family and friends to the music of the Storyville Stompers- a classic New Orleans brass band. We felt famous as people took pictures of us from their balconies and on the street! I didn’t want my grandparents to miss out on the fun as they both love music so we had them travel with the parade in a pedicab!
At the end of the night, my father surprised us with a special appearance of the Kinfolk Brass Band who came out of hiding places around the courtyard and the main house for everyone to enjoy one last taste of music from the amazing city we call home.
The Couple Recommends:
Words can not express our gratitude for the hard work, energy, enthusiasm, and drive Lara Mintz from La Mintz Wedding Coordination brought to the table to make our wedding day special. We had heard great things about Lara’s work at the Beauregard-Keyes House from friends and from the first meeting over coffee we knew we had made an excellent choice. Lara was so increadibly organized and calm throughout the entire process which put my mom and I at ease through a lot of the stress of the planning process. She cared deeply about making sure all of our details were going to be perfect. I highly recommend her to any couple in New Orleans hoping to have a smooth and stress free planning process.
We also loved the professionalism and energy from Jennifer Monnerjahn at Ralph Brennan Catering and Events. Jennifer worked closely with us to craft the perfect meal for our reception that would highlight everything we love about New Orleans cuisine from having local ingredients to Jonathan‘s favorite bourbon.
Before we even got engaged I knew which photographer I wanted for our wedding. I had my heart set on working with Maile since our good friends worked with her 2 years ago for their wedding. We heard she was fun to work with and I had seen her timeless shots that capture the vintage feel I was hoping for. We had so much fun during our engagement photo session where we were able to capture our romance in the heart of the neighborhoods we fell in love in – the Marigny/Bywater. On our wedding day, Maile captured such precious moments while my bridesmaids, mother and I were getting ready at Maison McCarty, an adorable B&B in the Bywater. Each photograph from the ceremony, secondline and reception is a true moment frozen in time that allows us to relive the magic whenever we want.
