Destination wedding
Why book?

If you're looking for a wedding photographer who values real moments over perfectly manufactured ones, Dimitris Psillakis is one to know. Based in Crete and photographing weddings across the Greek Islands, his approach is rooted in documentary storytelling, quietly observing the day as it naturally unfolds rather than directing every moment. What makes his work especially unique is his background in Documentary History, giving him an instinct for noticing the moments that might otherwise go unseen. The result is a gallery that feels timeless, thoughtful and deeply personal, balancing honest emotion with a refined editorial eye. For couples planning a destination wedding in Greece who want photographs that feel just as meaningful decades from now as they do today, Dimitris is an exceptional choice.

What is your specialty or personal style?
My work lives somewhere between documentary and editorial — I’m drawn to the quiet, unscripted moments that tell the real story of a day. I shoot both digital and analog film and that film influence shapes everything: the light I chase, the grain I embrace, the stillness I look for even in the middle of a celebration. I’ve been based in Crete for over a decade, shooting across the Greek islands like Milos and Santorini, the hidden corners of Crete that most people never find and the landscape always finds its way into the work. My style isn’t about grand gestures. It’s about the in-between moments that, years later, feel the most true.
Couples hire you because…
They want to feel like themselves on their wedding day, not like they’re performing for a camera. I work quietly, I don’t direct unless I need to and I try to make the whole experience feel as natural as possible. Couples also hire me because they want their location to be part of the story and not just a backdrop. Whether it’s the volcanic landscape of Milos, the beautiful shores of Crete, or a clifftop in Santorini, I know this part of the world deeply and that shows in the images.
How did you get your start in the wedding industry?
I started shooting weddings in Santorini about eleven years ago, drawn in by the light, the drama and the way the landscape transforms an ordinary moment into something cinematic. Over the years I built my base in Crete and expanded across the islands — Milos became a particular obsession, with its raw, almost lunar beauty that feels unlike anywhere else in Greece. Along the way I fell in love with analog film, added a couple of film cameras to my kit and found that shooting on film slowed me down in the best possible way. It made me more intentional, more present and that changed everything about how I work.
