Plan Your Denver Wedding: Vendors, Inspiration, & Expert Advice

The short version, don’t even bother looking at another photographer; Kate is the one. You can see on her website that Kate’s photos are gorgeous. What you can’t see on a website is how Kate made us feel seen and celebrated at every step of our wedding. As a queer couple, having vendors who were going to celebrate our queerness was an absolute must. Some wedding vendors try to be “inclusive” by shoving one picture of a conventionally attractive same-sex couple deep into their website. Not Kate. We knew we weren’t going to be treated as some side show or portfolio builder. If you are queer and planning a wedding, you know how heteronormative this industry is. Kate is the exception to that rule. If that wasn’t enough, Kate literally saved our wedding when my partner tested positive for covid the night before our wedding. Kate was on the phone with us at 10:30pm reassuring us and confirming plans for a covid-safe wedding. Our shot list was moot, but Kate got every picture we wanted and so many more we would have never thought of. Kate was our hype person, our therapist, our best friend, our coordinator, our hydration enforcer, our family dynamic calmer, all while taking the most beautiful pictures capturing this unique and frazzled but perfect day. I would go so far as to say that you don’t know the true potential and value of having a wedding photographer unless Kate Merrill is your wedding photographer.
