Both born and raised in the city, Alyssa and Abe wanted a wedding that represented their style — urban and edgy. Complete with garage doors and walls covered with greenery, The Smog Shoppe was the perfect venue for this couple to exchange vows. Deep blue attire and green plants dressed the venue, creating richly colored decor. The bride wore an effortlessly gorgeous gown designed by the amazing Karen Willis HolmesViera Photographics was there to capture the romantic moments the couple spent at their edgy wedding.

The Couple:

Alyssa and Abe

The Wedding:

The Smog Shoppe, Los Angeles, California

The Inspiration:

Abe and I are born and raised city people and we wanted our wedding to reflect who we were — urban, modern and edgy. We chose to hold the wedding in December in an uber-cool Los Angeles venue called “The Smog Shoppe” which is, quite literally a converted auto smog shop complete with garage doors and everything. The best part of the venue is this incredible living wall and I wanted the decor concept to embrace the urban greenery of the venue while factoring in other wintery elements such as icy greens, navy, blues and black.

Style and fashion is very important to me and I wanted the bridal party to match the chic, modern vibe of the wedding, so I styled them in jumpsuits, crop tops and gorgeous color blocked dresses, all in shades of black and navy. The groomsmen also wore black and navy and I chose an icy, sequined Karen Willis Holmes gown which I altered to include more of a plunging neckline.

The Moments:

The best part of my wedding was probably the fact that my friends were in charge of every portion of the design. I’m lucky enough to be friends with the wedding event design duo extraordinaire “Next Saturday Affairs” who brought my vision to life. My good friend Ashley from Ash + OAK floral design made me all of my gorgeous leafy tropical bouquets, my friend Sarah from Arrow Art did all of the hand lettered signs, and my best friend and bridesmaid Arjuna hand drew all of the guests faces for the magnetic escort cards/ wedding favors. It was a team effort and beautifully executed.
