It wasn’t until Jo and Ben reconnected after college at a going-away party for a mutual friend, that they realized they had an incredible, beaming connection. The rest was history. Their wedding at Rhinefield House Hotel was dressed in Welsh oak elements, which were handcrafted by the groom’s father. The oak was beautifully complimented by tea lights, candles, lanterns, moss, gypsophila, and ivory roses creating a classically natural, timeless wedding. Talented photographer Paul Underhill captured the beautiful moments the couple shared on their big day.
The Couple:
Jo and Ben
The Wedding:
Rhinefield House Hotel, Hampshire, England
The Inspiration:
We wanted the theme for the wedding to be natural and classic. We used a lot of Welsh oak, hand-crafted by Ben’s father, for the decoration of the reception venue and our florist complemented this beautifully by using an abundance of moss, gypsophila, ivory roses, tea lights, candles and lanterns. I had a very specific idea of the bridal gown I wanted, so I designed the dress myself and had it made bespoke by an amazing dress maker called Clare Gilbert. The overall look for myself and the bridesmaids was alfresco elegance, with a touch of bohemia. The groomsmen went with smart and clean-cut navy suits to match Ben’s military attire, and with a touch of champagne to tie in with the bridesmaids. We wanted the wedding to feel timeless yet modern, with nothing too pretentious.
The Moments:
B: My favourite moment was when I saw Jo walking down the aisle. She looked even better than I could have imagined. It was also very special to share the day with our friends and family, so seeing everyone enjoying themselves was priceless.
J: I don’t think I fully relaxed until the wedding breakfast began, so my favourite part was probably the speeches. All three were just perfect and I was so overwhelmed with happiness, I kept welling up.
The Couple Recommends:
Our photographer, Paul Underhill, was simply wonderful. His incredible passion for photography shone through and he was amazingly creative and inspiring. He was also one of the most calming and courteous suppliers on the day which is so invaluable. We are thrilled with his photos and can’t thank him enough. In addition, the bridal gown maker, Clare Gilbert, was a delight, as were the florists and both teams at the church and Rhinefield House.
