Shannon and Tom’s Revolution Brewing wedding was a labor of love, coming together with the help of friends and family, exactly as the couple had hoped. The wedding was thoughtfully crafted, as the couple wrote their own ceremony, asked a childhood friend to officiate, and even had friends from college play the ceremony music. Luckily, Erin Hoyt Photography was there to document every endearing moment, from the first look on a bridge in Chicago to their first kiss as husband and wife as the sun shone through the windows of Revolution Brewing.
The Couple:
Shannon and Tom
The Wedding:
Revolution Brewing, Chicago, Illinois
The Inspiration:
We didn’t really have a theme, but we wanted every part of our wedding day to reflect who we are. We value our family and friendships most and wanted warm, simple decor in a venue that was small and intimate where we would all feel comfortable and close. College friends played the music for our ceremony. We wrote our own ceremony, and a childhood friend officiated. Revolution Brewing is a gorgeous space with dark wood finishes and a room flooded with afternoon light. Our florist did an amazing job filling the room with beautiful flowers and candles. Everything was simple, but we agreed on every detail together – each bit held some special meaning for the two of us.
The Moments:
The whole day was amazing, but there was a moment during dinner when we looked around the room and saw all of our loved ones laughing and joking. That was the perfect moment, and it’s when we could finally relax!
The Couple Recommends:
All our vendors were fantastic people that kept us relaxed throughout the entire planning process. They were all just genuinely good people with whom we were happy to spend time and share our special day. Vanessa of Nightingale Beauty made the entire wedding party look and feel beautiful. Our DJ kept the dance floor busy the entire night but managed to stick with our quirky anti-top 40 tastes. Our photography team somehow captured happy, photogenic moments in a stressful morning leading up to our first look. Erin has an eye for finding overlooked spots in familiar places to capture the best lighting, a better backdrop, and the right moment. Some of our favorite shots were ones we didn’t know she was taking.
