With a sunny yellow and gold color palette, Caitlin and Drew’s sweet wedding at Hyatt Regency Indian Wells in California brightened everyone’s day. We love how the flower girl swapped out the traditional basket of rose petals for a unique, massive balloon. The couple made sure to incorporate personal details into their wedding to create a day that was uniquely them. Ryan Horban Photography captured the incredible moments spent at this simply stunning California wedding!

The Couple:

Caitlin and Drew

The Wedding:

Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, Indian Wells, California

The Inspiration:

As a wedding and event planner, I had thought a lot about this! I wanted it to be charming, whimsical, and unique and use colors that not a lot of people use (yellow and gold) – to me they are such happy, sunny colors. We wanted personal details that made people smile and think of us. I have a lot of pen pals and Drew and I write letters to each other when he is deployed (he is a USMC officer) so we had people write us advice on postcards and they are getting mailed to us throughout the year. The table names were bars and pubs from all over the country that we love and we put postcards from those cities at the tables too in case people hadn’t had a chance to write us at cocktail hour. I also wanted people to feel casual and comfortable as it could have been really hot in the desert – luckily it was only 85 degrees! Each bridesmaid got to pick out her own white & gold dress. I wanted it to feel like a very special, backyard California party!

The Moments:

Our favorite moment was saying our vows; we didn’t know what the other would say. They made everyone laugh and cry. Drew also liked his groom’s cake — also a surprise. He is a big Miami Dolphins Fan. One thing we were relieved about was how well behaved our pitbull Bo was. We strapped a Go Pro to his back when he walked down the aisle so we could see his unique point of view! The last dance of the night was Colder Weather which is one of our favorite songs. All our friends and family circled around us, and we all sang it at the top of our lungs together. It was magical just like the entire day.

The Couple Recommends:

Lollipop Workshop on Etsy made the cake topper and were so nice — I had originally sent them a photo of the winter USMC uniform, not the summer uniform so the pants were the wrong color. They fixed the cake topper with in a week! It was my favorite keepsake from the wedding.
