Liz and Dan’s orange and green wedding was filled with so many sentimental aspects, which made their big day truly as special as can be. To start off, Dan proposed to Liz with her late mother’s gorgeous engagement ring! Not to mention, their church venue, St. Vincent’s San Rafael, was the orphanage where her grandfather was raised. And, even the groom’s cake was designed based on the common interest that brought them together, the University of Oregon. Their meaningful touches made this sweet San Francisco wedding one to remember. And, to top it all off, Alison Yin Photography perfectly captured all the incredible moments!

St. Vincent’s San Rafael, San Rafael, California

The Inspiration:

For inspiration, I always had the thought in my head that if I was to ever get married I would want the ceremony to take place at St. Vincent’s in San Rafael, a beautiful mission style church built in the late 1800s. St. Vincent’s held special meaning to me in that it was an orphanage that my beloved grandfather was raised at. The classic chapel is reminiscent of cathedrals that one could find in Italy but it’s rustic setting fit perfectly with the décor that would be incorporated at the reception. For the reception we choose Cavallo Point Lodge in Sausalito, a short drive from the church. We fell in love with Cavallo Point because of his hidden beauty tucked among gorgeous redwood and eucalyptus tress with stunning San Francisco city views. Both venues complimented the rustic and traditional feel we were hoping to achieve. For wedding day colors we went with a neutral pallet of navy, grays, oranges and greens.

The Moments:

Dan and I met a little later in life and were literally the last of all our friends to get married. Many of our close friends have families of their own and had not been to a wedding in many years. To say people were excited about our big day would be an understatement….people truly could not wait 1) because they were excited for us and 2) because they were excited for a night free from their kids. The church was full of family and friends. When Dan and I were pronounced as husband and wife the cheering from our guests was so loud and genuine that we were both blown away by the love and happiness expressed via cheers from our loved ones that had just witnessed our union.

We loved all our vendors but Marisa Canoles of Rebecca Reategui Weddings and Special events was amazing. She helped to give our vision direction and provided excellent recommendations. Marisa and Rebecca are true professional and more than exceeded our expectations. Having them running the show on the wedding day made our day stress free because we knew they were taking care of all the details! We loved working with them!
