Jenn and Ryan’s rustic wedding was held at The Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, North Carolina, where Elizabeth Fletcher of I Do Events created a wonderfully cozy affair perfect for fall. Jonathan Connolly‘s photos captured the day beautifully.
The Couple: Jenn and Ryan
The Wedding: 11.23.2013 – The Old Edwards Inn & Spa, Highlands, North Carolina
The Goals: Our decor theme could be called rustic chic. The venue was designed to look like a barn so we didn’t want it to look too fancy. We are very simplistic people and didn’t want an over the top wedding so we stuck with very simple decor.
The Design: Instead of having just tables, we wanted some long rectangular tables to give the feeling of a family gathering. We had low flowers that were primarily white with pops of purple and green. We wanted a buffet so that everyone could enjoy the food more than just once and we had a candy bar as favors. We added lights to make it feel like we were outside under the stars.
The Location: We chose to get married in Highlands, North Carolina. This is a place the bride has been visiting her entire life. We wanted to get away from the craziness of Miami and have a very small wedding that reflected our simplistic personalities.
The Moments: The most memorable part of the day was seeing Ryan for the first time during the first look. It was so nice to have such a personal moment together before sharing such a great memory with all of our friends and family. I also enjoyed getting ready with all my friends that I have known since elementary school.
The Advice: I think the biggest piece of advice we give couples planning a wedding is to not stress so much about the small details. The day goes by so quickly, and you won’t remember the tiny details that might seem so important.
