Romantic Los Angeles Wedding at Carondelet House

Carondelet House provided the perfect setting for Alannah and Evan’s romantic Los Angeles wedding, which balanced an airy elegance with distressed textures and vintage-inspired decor. An indoor venue can appear dark, but Carondelet is full of natural light, and Orange Blossom Special Events did a beautiful job of curating delicate, creamy-colored elements to contrast with the brick and wood interior. Marianne Wilson captured the mood of the day in every image, picking up on the smallest details that made Alannah and Evan’s wedding so captivating.

The Moments: “I don’t think either of us expected the ceremony to be so fun, emotional, and meaningful. We laughed and cried throughout. A family friend married us, and we borrowed the ceremony outline from an incredible wedding we’d attended a couple years back. It was effortless, but such a magical homey moment. I think I beamed forever on the high from our ceremony!

The Inspiration:Carondelet House was nothing like the garden wedding we’d wanted, but when we saw it, we couldn’t say no. It felt like a dream home to us, or the perfect neighborhood bar, and we knew our wedding would feel like an intimate dinner party there. That sense of hospitality, to say thanks to family and friends, was our highest priority.

From there, it was just a matter of keeping the decor cohesive and adding texture. We created handmade elements like our ceremony backdrop, which is hundreds and hundreds of tissue paper cones my mother sewed onto crochet yarn. I tea-stained yards and yards of cheesecloth I sourced online to make rustic runners to add texture to the farmhouse tables. Our florist did a beautiful job layering in votives and metallics to keep the rustic elements modern.

We were also very focused on the food we’d serve, and Lara at Tres LA was an amazing collaborator. I was determined to serve a family-style dinner, and they delivered with a gorgeous summer menu, including a grilled flank steak with blistered tomatoes, feta, and grilled onions that our guests still rave about.

The Couple Recommends:We might as well have been wedding guests for the amount of fun we had shooting with them. Lara from Tres LA was consistently on the same wavelength as me in menu-planning, and I can’t thank her enough for her patience and ingenuity in minor tweaks that made all the difference. Christy Heng of Orange Blossom Special Events is exactly the professional, smiling presence you want for your wedding day. I’d rather not imagine the disasters that could have occurred without her. Alex at Carondelet House is an absolute team player, and I don’t know how he accomplishes everything he does in a day looking that calm. These people are FUN, and they kept the mood of our day consistently great, even when we were away from our guests.
