Maggie and Matt’s late summer wedding was sophisticated, modern, fresh and fun- a fabulous reflection of their personalities! Wedding planners Jesse and Travis from True Colors Events were there to take care of every little detail so Maggie and Matt could feel like guests at their own party, and photographers Angie and Ashley from One Thousand Words Photography captured every delightful moment.

Their color palette of fuchsia, white and midnight blue, was seen in the wedding party’s suits and dresses, in the gorgeous bouquets and flower arrangements from Christopher Flowers, and in the wedding invitations designed by graphic designer Jason Gomez.

After a creative Catholic ceremony at the Chapel of St. Ignatius in Seattle, Maggie and Matt rang the bells for all to hear, and then headed downtown to The W Hotel for a light-hearted and super fun reception. The groom and his guys all changed into matching Adidas tennis shoes, and the party began with Maggie and Matt making their grand enterance to the USC Fight Song. Dancing, break dancing, and a night full of celebration followed, and guests were sent home with goodie bags full of treats from a colorful candy buffet.

Amazing Fall Wedding Cake Colors

September 24, 2009 | editorial team

Whether you choose just a hint of a rich fall color, or you cover your wedding cake from top-to-bottom in bold autumn tones, incorporating the natural colors of the season into any style wedding cake design can make it the perfect addition to a fall wedding. I love the modern look of these wedding cakes that use yellow as a dynamic fall accent…

Custom Bridal Shrugs and Ruffled Dresses from Holly Stalder

I first fell in love with the designs of Portland native Holly Stalder when I saw the custom made bridal shrug she created for the wedding of Kristen* from Bliss* Video Productions. It was made of lace from Kristen*’s great, great grandmother and couldn’t have been more stunning! (You can see images from the whole wedding on Elizabeth Messina’s fabulous blog, Kiss the Groom! Love it!) Holly’s designs combine femininity and edginess to the greatest effect- they are light and ethereal but totally modern and fashion-forward at the same time. My favorite! Visit her website and Etsy shop to see current collections of ruffled wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses, and bridal shrugs to-die-for! I might just need to order one for every day wear!
