Texas Inspired Wedding at the Inn at Millrace Pond

Laurie and Nick come from different sides of the country, so their wedding would be the first time a lot of their Texas loved ones would meet the East Coast family. Because their love is as big as the Texas sky, their New Jersey wedding needed to have that rustic essence that is so synonymous with Texas weddings. The Inn and Millrace Pond was the perfect setting for their day, being a little rustic pocket in the New Jersey woods. Photography geniuses The Markows beautifully captured the natural and whimsical celebration, as well as all of the details Laurie and Nick carefully chose to reflect their love.

The Couple:

Laurie and Nick

The Wedding:

Inn at Millrace Pond, Blairstown, New Jersey

The Inspiration:

I was never really the girl who dreamed of putting a wedding together, I think I could have easily eloped but then we would have cheated everyone out of meeting each other and that didn’t seem fair. I am not sure if we will ever have another event where all of his family and all of my family would have the opportunity to get together from New Jersey and Texas, which made our wedding even more special. So we wanted it to be very us, low-key, romantic, intimate and it was really important to me that we showcased how beautiful New Jersey is for all of our Texas travelers. The Inn at Millrace Pond made that easy. It was secluded, rustic, simple and breathtaking.

The Moments:

The party! We knew with all of the thought and work we put into the wedding it would be beautiful and we were getting married to each other so the ceremony would have been perfect anywhere, but you never know how the party is going to turn out and whether or not people would have fun. When the party started it was such a relief. I don’t think Nick and I had any idea how much everyone would get into it and we can’t say enough about our DJ/Band. They really made sure everyone was into it and it just made a perfect day even better! We knew we had booked a good DJ but they really made the night special and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. People are still talking about the awesome job they did with the music.

The Couple Recommends:

TWO WORDS: THE MARKOWS. Their pictures are so stunning and they are so amazing to work with. We really could not be happier with our choice. They were actually the first photographers we even looked at and we just loved their style. They really were able to capture the feel of our wedding and all of the elements we worked so hard to put together. We really can’t say enough about them from start to finish.

Our florist Tracey was amazing! I sent her an inspiration board with ideas and she just ran with it. I love her organic style and she uses such a unique variety of flowers. We were so lucky to find her.

Dreamy New Zealand Wedding by Erich McVey

January 19, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Erich McVey wedding photography

When the bride is a wedding planner and the photographer is Erich McVey, you know the wedding is going to be impossibly beautiful. Adele and David took one look at Erich McVey’s photography and knew his soft and dreamy style would be perfect for their natural New Zealand wedding. We adore the textured greenery in Adele’s crown and bouquet. The simple styling shifted the emphasis to the beautiful and intimate moments shared between Adele and David as they became husband and wife.

The Couple:

Adele and David

The Wedding:

Black Barn Vineyards, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand

The Inspiration:

I do wedding planning on the side, so when it came to my wedding, I knew I wanted my wedding to look as natural and simple as possible and I knew just the place.

I wanted my photos to look soft and dreamy. So we went with Erich McVey, a gifted man, very talented and very passionate about what he does. He is a professional. A rare find. And his lovely wife! Oh, she is just so adorable! If you’ve met her you would know what I meant, it’s impossible not to love her. They are such a lovely couple and just people you feel genuinely privileged to have met.

The Moments:

Holding David’s hands at the altar, it was just him and I in that moment. We read our vows in Korean and I think my voice was trembling and only David could make out what I wanted to say which made it even more special. We were with everyone, and yet we were alone; it was like singing lovers secret song that others didn’t understand.

The Couple Recommends:

My wedding photographer, Erich McVey — I go through my wedding photos regularly and I am so amazed how beautiful we look in the photos every time we see those photos. He is just too talented!

I must say that my hair stylist, make up stylist and florist trio was just perfect. They were so lovely, down-to-Earth and easy going yet so perfectly professional. I’ve received so many compliments on their work, especially the table setting that my florist did. They are a blissful bunch.

Announcing the Catherine Rhodes Wedding Photography Giveaway Winner!

January 19, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Congratulations to Lauren and Peter! This adorable pair, who are getting married in Big Bear California, Spring of 2016, are the lucky winners of the Catherine Rhodes Wedding photography giveaway.

LaurenPeter_CatherineRhodesPhotography_WeddingGiveaway

Here’s their cute proposal story:

“We were camping and hiking at Julia Pfeiffer Burns park in Big Sur, CA when Peter found a little nook in the trees and suggested we crawl in. We were then in this little nook on the cliff side surrounded by trees looking at the ocean! He put the camera on auto shoot and during the second set asked me to switch spots so I stood up and that’s when he got down on one knee. While cliff sides are beautiful I accidentally placed the ring on the rock to take a photo and it tumbled over and was dangling on a tiny corner a centimeter away from falling into the ocean 500 feet below…..”

Congratulations, again, you two! And a H U G E thank you to Catherine Rhodes for offering up such an awesome giveaway.

xoxoCarrie
