Here at Junebug, we love makers and creators who take weddings to the next level with their talents. Joelle Perry is a couture wedding dress designer in Hawaii doing just that with her one-of-a-kind gowns created from various found vintage fabrics. The Kaleo dress, seen here photographed by Casey Liu, is ideal for a dreamy beach wedding with its breezy, loose cotton material, wide bell sleeves, and romantic low back.
Here’s a little insight from designer Joelle Perry on the making of Kaleo:
This gown is vintage lace perfection. I thrifted different cotton fabrics, including a 1940’s table cloth, and made this statement piece. From the 70’s vibe, bell sleeves, to the super low back, this piece is surely a standout from “normal” bridal wear.

Keri and Sam’s Devil’s Thumb Ranch wedding was as glamorous as it was adventurous. The celebration started with a wedding ceremony accented by glittering bridesmaids’ gowns in silver and gold, followed by incredibly gorgeous couple’s portraits in the snow by Jeff Cooke Photography and a night of dancing in the warmth of the lodge. The next day, Keri and Sam geared up to ski in their wedding attire, making for some fabulously fun images that we’re so excited to share!
When envisioning our wedding day, I had two things in mind: metallic colors and candle light. I couldn’t decide between silver or gold as the main focus, so I decided to combine them and developed a “mixed metallic” scheme. My bridesmaids rented their mismatched sparkly dresses from Rent the Runway and my wedding planner helped add metallic details throughout the decor — from my cake, to the candle holders and table runners. To achieve the candle light/romantic vibe, we had over 500 candles on the tables, hanging candle plank chandeliers and our DJ provided the soft, amber uplighting.
Sam is a simple man when it comes to fashion and didn’t want anything too formal. The groomsmen wore their own dark colored suits with matching pocket squares. We also had grooms women who wore metallic colored dresses also from rent the runway.
The Moments:
Our favorite moment from the wedding was when we saw each other for the first time. We opted not to do a “first look” before the ceremony, so the walk down the aisle was very emotional and special.

Kara Delay, with Love This Day Events was outstanding. She took my vision and ran with it; making it better than I could have ever dreamed. It was so nice to be able to just show up for our wedding and not have to worry about anything. I loved that Kara knew Devil’s Thumb Ranch like the back of her hand and that she had personal relationships with all of the vendors and DJ. I owe my preserved mental status to her.
On a snowy day in the English countryside, Jenny and James said “I do” at The Ashes Venue in front of family and friends. The DIY wedding included delicate bouquets of silk flowers, sweet bunting made from vintage fabric, and a braided up-do adorned with a dazzling hairpiece. CG Weddings by The Crawleys masterfully captured the sweet newlyweds as they embraced in the snow and the setting sun on their first eve as husband and wife.
We wanted a rustic barn venue where the countryside location and buildings were beautiful in their own right. We wanted to add subtle handmade decor and vintage touches.
The Moments:
The whole day was perfect including the snowy backdrop, which we had wished for when planning our winter wedding! For us the ceremony and finally becoming husband and wife was the most special moment.
