Outdoor Brooklyn Wedding at The Pines

Outdoor-Brooklyn-Wedding-at-The-Pines (30 of 40)

Because Nina and Gerrett’s first meeting was in classic New York style (her apartment was one block from the bar where he worked), there could be no other way to truly celebrate their love than with an urban city wedding. With tall buildings, brick walls, and colorful murals, their wedding at The Pines in Brooklyn, New York was nothing short of spectacular. Adding in an interesting contrast, the couple dressed the venue in lush green plants and rustic decor. The awesome photographers at Our Love Is Loud perfectly captured the romantic moments at this urban city wedding!

The Couple:

Nina and Gerrett

The Wedding:

The Pines, Brooklyn, New York

The Inspiration:

From the very beginning, we knew that we wanted to have have a super fun party with all the people we love. As an event producer, I’ve seen everything under the sun in eventing, and so I wanted to keep it small with thoughtful touches. We decided to forego much tradition for the sake of keeping it free form, and being open to where the night took us. Our decor was based largely on my personal taste for warm, rustic environments – gorgeous flowers and billions of candles were always my baseline. For my wedding day fashion, I didn’t want to look too bridey. It’s just not who I am. So I kept with the vintage feel of the dress that I LOVED, but wanted to keep it a little quirky. Hence the modern shoes mixed with eclectic jewelry.

The Moments:

Oh man, so hard to choose! We didn’t want to do the traditional “first dance” where everyone gathers around you and stares, so we asked our DJ to play our song (“The Luckiest” by Ben Folds – a little dark, and a little offbeat, just like us!), at some point during the first hour of our reception. We didn’t want to know when it was coming, and we’d dance to it wherever we happened to be. Of course it turned into everyone staring at us, but it was just so lovely and sweet. I don’t remember our ceremony hardly at all, but I loved everything we wrote for that too. The whole day was really the best ever. Even the morning rain showers!

The Couple Recommends:

Seriously, Our Love Is Loud and Alyssa Hoppe were a dream team. Being able to collaborate with such talent was my privilege and honor. I felt heard and understood as a bride, but also as a professional event producer. I can’t recommend them both more highly!

Portuguese Bridal Inspiration Shoot at Pousada de Palmela

August 28, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Portuguese-Bridal-Inspiration-Shoot-at-Pousada-de-Palmela (7 of 21)

Pedro Vilela Photography and a talented team of other extraordinary wedding professionals bring us a gorgeous Portuguese bridal inspiration shoot, and in one word, it’s breathtaking. Awe-inspiring views, eroded stone walls, and an enchanting forest all come together to portray this beautiful bridal story.

Here’s a little dreamy insight about the shoot from photographer Pedro Vilela:

The idea was to portray a dream. The dream of a bride sleeping in a room at the Pousada de Palmela in the middle of Serra da Arrábida. All we see is what’s going on in her head, she is alone. She wanders the corridors to try to understand what is going on, she finds the dress in one of the lounges, prepares herself with all the precepts for the big day. Suddenly, she appears in the middle of dense green and there finds her laid table, the cake, the flowers, jewelry. Wanders through the woods, without having complete certainty if that is true or not. We chose countryside elements, with bold colors, reminiscent of the painted field of poppies, characteristic of Portuguese landscapes this time of the year. We chose lace (in the towel and dress) because it is a traditional and national symbol and the blue tile in the ceramic elements because it characterizes our artistic culture, here with a more modern touch. The jewelry pieces, refer to a very manual labor, concern for detail, so characteristic of Portuguese handicraft, again with a contemporary approach. Regarding the floral work, we chose flowers from the season, indigenous, simple and unpretentious. We wanted to show a different side to a wedding, the expectation, the desire and the unique beauty of each detail.

Charming Hometown Wedding at The Herlong Mansion

August 28, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Charming-Hometown-Wedding-at-The-Herlong-Mansion (17 of 27)

There’s something really special about tying the knot in your hometown. For Colby and Trina, The Herlong Mansion in Micanopy, Florida gave off a sense of warmth, coziness, and, above all, it represented home. The bridesmaids wore light-pink gowns and held baby’s breath, which offered up a simple and fresh color palette for this rustic wedding. We absolutely love how the simplicity of the wedding design allowed Villetto Photography to focus on capturing the irreplaceable moments Colby and Trina spent on their big day!

The Moments:

We had two favorite moments at our wedding. Our first favorite moment was seeing each other for the first time at the alter. We made a point of not seeing each other before the ceremony, so that moment was very exciting and special for us. Our second favorite moment was sitting down at a long table and eating dinner with our family. We had a very small, 30 person, family wedding and being able to share a family supper with them for the first time as a married couple was extremely important to us, and a dinner that we will never forget.
