There is something extra special about marrying at home, and we’re positively smitten with Emily and Endaf’s Canadian garden wedding at the bride’s family’s home in Quebec. The backyard was full of flowers and loved ones, and the light couldn’t have been more perfect as Emily and Endaf exchanged vows in a sweet outdoor ceremony. Before heading into the tent for dinner, drinks, and dancing, the newlyweds took a walk to a nearby lake with Avant Garde Studio for a romantic photo shoot in the sunset.

The Inspiration:
We got married in the garden of the family home where I spent my summers. We really took inspiration from the house and the gardens themselves, which are styled in a classic antique fashion and the laid back and happy spirit of the place. We used a lot of furniture, decorative items and linens from within the house to decorate the gardens and marquis. I wore a classic lace dress that was beautiful but also easy to move around the garden in and Endaf and his ushers wore suits with waist coats. Classic but practical.
The Moments:
The wedding ceremony. I was just overjoyed at having the opportunity to stand in front of my soon to be husband with all of our friends and family looking on and say my vows. After 8 years of being together and a 2 hour delay I was positively busting with excitement. We also included a lot of personal touches in the ceremony, the highlight being all of the male members of our families singing a hymn in Welsh, my husband’s first language.
The Couple Recommends:
Back of House catering were incredible. They provided really fresh, locally sourced and wonderful tasting food. Leading up to the event they worked with us to create an outstanding menu for the day providing helpful suggestions but also listening to our requests and even learning new recipes. The whole team were so enthusiastic and conscientious – I could not have asked for more lovely people to work with.
Adeline and Scott from Avant Garde Studios were also fantastic. They provided some advice where needed but for the most part were unobtrusive and really captured the special moments of the day. They also went above and beyond keeping us calm and providing comfort and humour throughout the day.
