Foggy Couple Session in the Connemara Mountains

On a foggy fall day in October, Kayla and Brendon set out into the Connemara Mountains of Galway for a romantic couple session. The pair traveled from New York to Ireland to shoot with Awake and Dreaming Photography, who beautifully captured their cozy relationship and thrilling sense of adventure.

Amalfi Coast Destination Elopement at Villa Cimbrone

Kirsten and Brandon brilliantly chose to elope in the Amalfi Coast without sacrificing a party back home in San Francisco with their family and friends. Separating the two celebrations allowed them to have a special experience, just the two of them, in one of the world’s most beautiful locations. The pair exchanged personal vows at Villa Cimbrone while Antonio Patta captured the otherworldly beauty of the magical destination around them.

My wedding dress was hand made in Italy by Italian designer Elisabetta Poliganano. My hair was also an Italian updo. I absolutely loved my dress. They material was very delicate and it moved well as my husband and I danced. I also loved the way it hugged my body.

The most memorable part of the day was our ceremony. It was held in a private garden at the beautiful Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, Italy. There we recited our vows, which we chose to write ourselves. Our wonderful officiant incorporated Italian traditions into the ceremony to make it unique and special. It is a moment I will remember forever.

Chic Island Wedding at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens

Choosing the right professionals to carry out your wedding is the difference between you having a stress-free and a stressful wedding day. Renée and Nick totally nailed it with their picks, choosing a few of Hawaii’s most talented vendors to take care of the small stuff so they could enjoy their destination elopement. Modern Elopement made the day at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens breezy and beautiful, while June Photography captured all of the island elegance.

We wanted it to be a casual, but sophisticated style that had a contemporary, breezy twist – one that allowed the beauty and colour of Kauai to sing. We asked our guests to dress as ‘Island Elegant.’

When it comes to a destination wedding we would most definitely recommend engaging with a wedding event planner who can offer local expertise and knowledge of the country that you might otherwise not find out about yourself. Not only will this remove the stress of organising the overseas details yourself, but it will make it easier to just turn up at your destination and start enjoying it immediately. We would also recommend spending time researching the right vendors and reviewing blogs before making a final choice.

Destination weddings are all about balancing out knowledge of your venues and location whilst still leaving room for a sense of discovery. It’s ok to allow for an element of surprise on the big day. That’s what makes the destination even more special and memorable.
