Australian Garden Party Wedding at Merribee House

Joanna and Mitch’s debonair garden wedding at Merribee House was full of fresh DIY details and romance! We love the bar and outdoor seating area that the couple built out of reclaimed pallets, as well as the copper ceremony arch that Mitch made by hand. Joanna’s custom-made lace bridal gown with a nude underlay absolutely steals the show, and the couple chose florals that complemented the venue’s natural gardens. Inspired by Merribee House’s stunning grounds, the couple selected fresh fare, wedding favors of potted herbs, and a lively party to be at the forefront of the reception. Hannah Blackmore Photography captured amazing portraits of Joanna and Mitch throughout the evening.

I couldn’t find the perfect dress to fit my vision so I started looking into custom made dresses. As soon as I spoke to Clara at Evermore Bridal, she instantly got my vision. I wanted a pretty simple shape in lace but with the nude colored lining. I loved the low back and the long train.

Probably the biggest wedding DIY project was the copper arch which Mitch made out of copper pipe – he spent many hours polishing it to make sure it was absolutely perfect.

Our photographer Hannah was amazing and she’s so, so nice!! She really made us and our bridal party feel totally at ease while also having some really good fun.

We didn’t really have set colours but we loved incorporating the copper accents, the native flowers and the natural wood together. We both love copper and it’s also something Mitch works with most days for his job so it felt natural.

For favors, we gave out little metal pots with a bag of soil and some herbs for them to grow. We liked the idea and thought it matched back perfectly with the venue.

We purchased the wooden palettes and then we constructed the seating areas and bar wall. It was merely a vision a few weeks out from the wedding as we were having issues finding the palettes but it turned out so much better than we expected.

These IKEA Engagement Photos are as Sweet as They are Unique

June 4, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

If you think you can’t be surprised by engagement photo ideas, think again! This IKEA engagement shoot shook up our idea of what to expect from couple portraits, and we are so happy it did. Emily and Shane turned everyone’s favorite furniture depot into their own happily-ever-after by playing house among the set displays. Between reading books together, toasting empty wine glasses, and kissing over a dining room table, we are totally charmed by how Savannah Lauren Photography captured Emily and Shane’s romp through the showrooms.

Uniquely Artistic California Elopement at Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art Museum

June 4, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

uniquely-artistic-california-elopement-at-noahs-art-purifoy-museum-1-2

Every inch of this Joshua Tree elopement exudes desert hippie chic! Martha and Tony wanted their special day to reflect their bohemian style with out-of-the-ordinary artistic details, and the Noah Purifoy Outdoor Art Museum fit the bill! The couple values spontaneity and living in the moment, so they decided to pick out a lot of the details in the final days leading up to the wedding – the bride even chose her shawl on the day-of! Dada-inspired artwork made of reclaimed materials like old TVs and salvaged metals sets the stage for the couple’s passionate, eclectic elopement ceremony. We love how Martha and Tony chose to keep the ceremony simple and to celebrate with their friends and family at a Mexican restaurant afterward. Valerie Denise Photos captured every effortless, sweet moment along the way!

I wanted to feel like a hippie bride and I wanted to give the vibe that we were in a desert. What I loved about my wedding dress was that I purchased it one week before the elopement at Forever 21. The day of the elopement, I went to go buy a lace cardigan from Forever 21 that fit the dress perfectly! I asked everyone to wear whatever they wanted!

My most memorable moment was hearing one of my good friends playing guitar, walking down the aisle, and seeing my fiancé about to become my husband waiting for me.

I love a photo we took during the ceremony looking at my husband because I have never seen that look on me before. I love the way I looked at him. And the way he was looking at me as well.

uniquely-artistic-california-elopement-at-noahs-art-purifoy-museum-9

Aside from having our ceremony at a place where there’s never been a wedding before, we personalized our elopement by placing root-beer bottles and eucalyptus at what looked like a window, and we had one of our friends play guitar during the ceremony.

Our wedding colors were very neutral so they wouldn’t clash with the colors of the museum.

Not only did I get the privilege of having my best friend be my matron of honor, but she was my photographer. We used to talk about who we would marry at 15 and 16, and she got to be the one to document one of the most important days of mine and my husband’s lives. It was magical.

uniquely-artistic-california-elopement-at-noahs-art-purifoy-museum-1

My husband is a tattoo artist who loves art in all shapes and sizes; especially art that is strange and out of the ordinary. Our photographer had heard about “Noah’s Art Museum” and recommended us to go!

My husband and I are very different people who enjoy freedom. We wanted to have a very boho/retro feel because we’re both old souls at heart.
