Laid-Back Vintage Colorado Wedding at Piney River Ranch

When planning their perfect day, Brittany and Tyler wanted a breath-taking spot in the middle of nowhere, somewhere new and unexpected for their out of town guests. Piney River Ranch, a secluded retreat beneath one of Colorado’s most beautiful vistas, was more perfect than they could have imagined. The couple said ‘I do’ in a beautifully rustic ceremony overlooking Piney Lake, nestled at the foot of the majestic Gore Mountain Range. The log cabin reception and stunning surroundings was the perfect backdrop for laid-back vintage gypsy vibes and truly beautiful floral design by Dzines Events, who replicated the immediate wilderness and splendor in elegant bouquets and the flower-draped ceremony and reception décor. We love the seriously creative photography by Ali Bonomo, a childhood friend of the bride who captured this sweet couple trailing through the pine trees and canoeing on the lake, surrounded by the spectacular views.

The Couple:

Brittany and Tyler

The Wedding:

Piney River Ranch, Vail, Colorado

I did not want this to feel like a wedding. My goal was to get everyone out in the middle of nowhere into a breath taking spot and there just happened to be a wedding going on. We had family fly in from all over so I wanted it to be extra special and fun for the guests.I wanted it to be something totally different then what they are use to seeing when attending weddings. We achieved it with the laid back, rustic, vintage, gypsy vibe.

My maid of honor made the custom signs that were on the dirt road to the venue. She also made our cake sign, and our hashtag sing. We also made 80 DIY Tambourines that were placed on everyone seats for the ceremony.

Wedding party processional: Elton John- Your Song
Bride processional: The Beatles – Here Comes The Sun (Acoustic)
First Dance: Van Morrison- Into The Mystic

Our photographer was AMAZING! We have been life long friends since pre-school, she also knew just about everyone in the wedding party. Everyone was laughing so hard as she positioned us and made us do the strangest things. It really made everything feel full circle.

Walking into the reception cabin after being announced for the first time as Mr & Mrs Desmet. All of our friends and family were freaking out, yelling and shaking their tambourines.

We did the first dance and the father daughter dance out on the deck at sunset with lanterns, half way through the father daughter dance we motioned for all of our guest to come up and join us for the rest of the song, Tiny Dancer by Elton John. Everyone was swaying and signing, it was magical!
