On their first hiking trip together, Joan and Steve inadvertently stumbled upon Sea to Sky Gondola, the venue where they would later say “I do.” The couple enlisted the help of Cahoots Creative Happenings to take care of the small stuff so they could focus fully on enjoying their intimate day. Jelger and Tanja Photographers beautifully captured the newlyweds looking out into the vast mountain views as the sun set overhead.
Joan and Steve
Sea to Sky Gondola, Squamish, British Columbia
The most important thing was not having to plan it. Neither of us liked the idea of a long engagement and the stress of planning a wedding. We wanted it to be small, intimate and about us. Having an elopement style wedding provided us with just that.
We got to know each other hiking on the mountains surrounding Vancouver, and Steve proposed to me at the top of Mount Seymour. We had hiked to the top of the venue prior to getting engaged and both of us secretly thought it would be a great place to get married. After getting engaged, Steve had come across a pop-up wedding at the Sea to Sky Gondola and we knew we had to do it. It fit perfectly with our relationship history, love for the outdoors and budget.
Plan the wedding that you want. Friends and families have so many opinions and expectations of what they think your wedding should be. If that isn’t what you want, don’t be afraid to do what is right for you and your fiancé.
