Destination wedding
Why book?

Most couples spend months planning their destination wedding day, but far fewer realize how much goes into making an international marriage legally official. That's where The Legal Wedding Planner stands out. Alessandro is a former legal advisor to the Italian Government, specializing in international family law. Through The Legal Wedding Planner, he assists foreign nationals and AIRE-registered Italians with the documentation, appointments, legal formalities, municipality coordination, and consular steps required to marry in Italy and have their marriage properly recognized abroad. There's a lot to think about. International couples often need a Nulla Osta, U.S. affidavits, Atto Notorio appointments, Apostilles, consular liaison, sworn translations, and specific paperwork depending on nationality, country of residence, the Italian municipality (Comune), and whether one partner is an AIRE-registered Italian citizen. Couples with prenuptial agreements also need their matrimonial property regime properly assessed and recorded in the Italian marriage record. For couples planning a legal destination wedding, it's the kind of specialized support that can make all the difference.

What is your specialty or personal style?
My specialty is the legal side of getting married in Italy. I assist international couples, foreign nationals, U.S. citizens, and AIRE-registered Italians with the documents and formalities required to make their marriage legally valid in Italy and properly recognized abroad. My work focuses on the steps many couples only discover later: Nulla Osta, U.S. affidavits, Atto Notorio, legalizations, international conventions, Apostilles, sworn translations, consular procedures, and coordination with the Italian municipality/Comune where the wedding will take place.
Couples hire you because…
Couples hire me because they want certainty. Getting legally married in Italy can involve different rules depending on nationality, residence, previous marriages, consular requirements, and the specific Italian municipality/Comune handling the ceremony. The Legal Wedding Planner is not a traditional wedding planning service. It is focused on the legal process: understanding which documents are required, coordinating appointments, liaising with consulates and municipalities, and helping couples avoid mistakes that could delay or compromise their wedding in Italy.
What part of your business are you best at?
I am best at turning a complex legal process into a clear sequence of steps. Many international couples feel overwhelmed by terms such as Nulla Osta, affidavit, Atto Notorio, Apostille, Prefettura, Comune, banns, AIRE registration, and sworn translation. My work is to identify the correct legal route for each couple, anticipate what the municipality or consulate may require, and coordinate the documentation so the couple can move toward the wedding with clarity and confidence.
Describe the personalities of the couples you get along best with.
I work best with couples who want a serious professional beside them and do not want to deal with the stress and hassle of Italian bureaucracy. My couples are often foreign nationals marrying in Italy, or Italian citizens living abroad. Some are planning a destination wedding; others are getting married so they can live together in Italy, where marriage formalities and immigration-related steps may need to be considered together. Many also want their Italian civil marriage to be properly recognized in their home country, with careful attention to documents, translations, Apostilles, and the protection of their matrimonial property regime. I connect best with couples who value clarity, discretion, and legal precision.
What achievement, moment, or success are you most proud of in your career?
Some of the cases I am most proud of involve couples from countries where civil law, politics, and religion are closely connected, and where the right to marry can become more complex than standard paperwork. These cases require particular caution. Every step must be handled with respect for the foreign authorities involved, while also protecting the couple’s position under Italian law. Italy is a secular state, and in some cases it may be necessary to rely on Italian constitutional principles when a limit imposed abroad conflicts with the couple’s right to marry in Italy. My work is to assess the case, coordinate with the consulate or the Italian municipality/Comune, and understand whether the marriage can proceed administratively or whether an application to the Italian court is necessary. For me, the real success is when a couple who thought the process was impossible is finally able to marry in Italy, legally and with dignity.
