The moment that still gives me butterflies is watching the celebration unfold in real time. After months of planning, design, and coordination, there is something magical about stepping back and seeing everyone fully immersed in the moment. The laughter, the music, the candlelight, the small details we carefully chose together all coming to life. Seeing a couple and their guests enjoying something we created together, and watching the day flow seamlessly, is the most rewarding part of what I do.

My path into the wedding industry was not exactly traditional. Before founding Van der Vows, I worked as an organic chemist, spending my days in a laboratory focused on process chemistry and precision. While I loved the intellectual challenge of science, I realized over time that the moments that truly energized me were the ones spent bringing people together. I had always been the person planning gatherings, organizing trips, and designing celebrations for friends and family. Eventually it clicked that planning events and designing experiences felt a lot like chemistry. Both require careful coordination, creative problem solving, and attention to the smallest details to create something beautiful. When I stepped away from the lab, I brought that same mindset with me. Today, I approach weddings the same way I once approached experiments. With curiosity, intention, and a commitment to getting every element just right so couples can experience a celebration that feels effortless, meaningful, and uniquely theirs.
