Why book?
What stands out about Allison Joy Photography is how much of the experience centers on connection. Between the photography, videography, and planning support she provides, couples aren't just hiring someone to take photos. They're working with someone who wants to be part of making the day feel smooth, comfortable, and meaningful. Her images lean romantic and refined, but the focus stays on real interactions rather than heavily staged moments.

Q&A
Connect with this vendor by getting to know them beyond their work.
What aspect of your job never ceases to give you butterflies or make you excited?
Honestly, getting to witness emotions in real time. No matter how many weddings I photograph, I still get butterflies right before the doors open and the bride walks down the aisle. The quiet moments, the tears, the nerves, the way families look at each other… it never feels “normal” to me. I think that’s what keeps me so excited about this job, every love story is different, and I get the honor of freezing those moments forever.
Couples hire you because…
Couples hire me because I become so much more than just their photographer. I build genuine relationships with all of my couples and truly care about making their day feel effortless and special. I’m there for the big moments, but also all of the little in-between ones — fluffing the dress, pinning boutonnieres, holding the touch-up kit, calming nerves, fixing veils, and making sure everything feels taken care of. I want my couples to feel like they have someone in their corner all day long, not just someone showing up with a camera.
How did you get your start in the wedding industry?
Starting my business at 16, I honestly had no idea what I wanted to niche down into. I began photographing seniors and families, and eventually I got asked to photograph a wedding. I still remember sitting in my high school computer class editing the photos from that wedding day and completely falling in love with it all — the storytelling, the posing, the editing, the emotions… everything about a wedding day felt so meaningful to me.
At the time, I fully planned on going to college, but already running a full-time photography business while still in high school made me realize I felt called to a different path. After graduating, I bought my first home and officially went full time with photography. What started as 15 weddings a year quickly grew into 25, and now 45+ weddings annually.
Looking back, I truly believe God guided me throughout my entire business journey and led me to the business I have today. Now, as a wedding photographer in my early 20s, I’ve photographed 150+ weddings, traveled all over the world capturing love stories, and get to work alongside my fiancé, who is a wedding videographer. It’s something I’ll never take for granted.
Is there a wedding destination or type that’s on your bucket list right now?
Yes! For bucket list locations, I only charge for travel and accommodations — the actual photography coverage is complimentary because these are dream locations for me to photograph in. Some of my current bucket list destinations include Europe, Cape Cod, Banff National Park, and Japan. Inquire for the full bucket list location guide!
