Why book?
Born Wild Photography is led by Maria, a Norway-based elopement photographer who specializes in crafting intimate, heart-forward experiences for couples seeking something real. She guides her couples into Norway’s wild corners—quiet shores, mountain passes, and hidden places where they can simply breathe and be themselves. Her approach is unhurried and deeply intentional, creating space for presence rather than performance. With Maria as your photographer, guide, and biggest cheerleader, your elopement becomes a story you’ll want to relive not because it was perfect, but because it was truly yours.

Couples hire you because…
Couples choose me because they can feel, from the very first video call, just how genuinely excited I am about their elopement. I care deeply about creating a day that feels meaningful, natural, and truly yours and not a performance, not a photoshoot, but an experience you can sink into.
They work with me because I’m local. I know these mountains, these fjords, these little quiet corners where you can be completely yourselves. And that matters, because it means you get guidance you can trust, honest advice, and locations that are so much more special than anything you’ll find on Google.
Most of all, couples tell me they felt comfortable with me right away. No forced poses, no awkward moments. Just the two of you being yourselves, and me quietly capturing it as it naturally unfolds. They love how real everyone looks in my photos, because the experience behind the camera felt real too.
If you want someone who cares about your day as much as you do, who brings warmth, calm, and enthusiasm, and who will help you create a deeply personal elopement in Norway — that’s exactly what I’m here for.
How did you get your start in the wedding industry?
I picked up a camera in my teenage years, but I never imagined it could be my job. So I became a physiotherapist, later completed my PhD, and built a life I thought I was supposed to want. Then, when my son was born seven years ago, everything shifted. My love for photography came back to life, and I started my own business because I wanted to do something completely different—I wanted to follow my heart.
I began as a birth and family photographer, because big traditional weddings had never felt like my space. But after planning my own intimate wedding, something clicked. I realized how much I loved the quiet, meaningful, untraditional way of celebrating love. I thought: This is what I want to photograph. These are the people I want to serve.
Since I’ve always loved being outdoors, stepping into the world of elopements and non-traditional weddings felt completely natural. I get to be outside, create art, and support couples who choose a path that feels true to them. I’ve always been drawn to people who walk a little against the stream, who listen inward and shape their own way. Working with couples like that—and helping them honour what they truly want—means the world to me.
