Why book?

Latitude 49 Photography is a Vancouver Island wedding photographer devoted to preserving the quiet, honest moments that often go unnoticed—the squeeze of a hand, the breath before a vow, the feeling of life unfolding in real time. Photographing with intention and restraint, Sarah allows space for moments to happen naturally, creating imagery that feels cinematic, timeless, and rooted in truth rather than performance. Her calm, observant approach comes from years of reading rooms and honoring the emotional weight of meaningful days, resulting in photographs that feel lived in and deeply personal. Inspired by forests, coastlines, and wild landscapes, Latitude 49 documents weddings and elopements with a romantic, editorial sensibility that never loses its humanity.

Q&A
Connect with this vendor by getting to know them beyond their work.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
My favourite part of wedding photography is witnessing how love shows up through people. Parents, siblings, friends, chosen family. Every couple has a history long before the wedding day, and I get to see that story unfold through the way others show up for them. Quiet gestures, inside jokes, emotional glances, hands held just a little tighter. Photographing a wedding feels like watching a beautifully layered film where every character matters, and I have the privilege of preserving all of it as it happens.
What part of your business are you best at?
Creating an environment where people feel at ease. Most of my couples are not comfortable in front of a camera, and they do not need to be. I am deeply intuitive, calm, and grounded, which allows people to relax and be themselves even around someone they have just met. Years working in healthcare taught me how to read a room, hold space, and move with empathy. That skill translates directly into photography that feels natural, unforced, and emotionally honest.
How did you get your start in the wedding industry?
I originally set out to photograph landscapes. Over time, people naturally entered the frame. Friends began asking me to document their weddings, and what started as a favour quickly became something much deeper. I found myself drawn to the intersection of place and people, how environments shape emotion and memory. Attending my first wedding photography retreat solidified that this was where I belonged. I never planned to become a wedding photographer, but my love for landscape and storytelling still lives in every session I photograph. It is woven into how I see light, space, and connection.
