This South African Garden Wedding is Too Pretty for Words

April 16, 2017 | juliette

If emotional ceremony moments, relaxed boho vibes, and Spanish-style tapas are your thing, cozy on up and enjoy Natasha and Bernard’s South African garden wedding! Nestled along the banks of the Hartbeespoort Dam, this private neighborhood held special meaning for the couple throughout their dating years, so it was a dream come true when they got to transform the space into their perfect wedding venue. Inspired by the natural setting and the warm colors of figs, which topped the wedding cake created by Essen Eatery, they chose a color palette of marsala, light pink, maroon, and sage green for the flowers and added only minimal décor to personalize the space. Photographer Maryke Albertyn captured every moment beautifully, especially the bridesmaids’ and the groom’s sweet reactions to seeing the bride for the first time!

The Couple:

Natasha and Bernard

The Wedding:

Kosmos Garden Chapel and Community Hall, North West, South Africa

Our venue was a place where Bernard‘s family has been going to for the past 20 years. They have a family house there, so we have been going to Kosmos since we started dating. We decided to start the rest of our lives together at this special place. It’s not an official wedding venue but with hard work, lots of help, and planning we made it work. Now its a special place for both of us!

Our wedding day style was chill, simple, and comfortable. My dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses were simple with a romantic style. Less is more, so our only accessories were the flower crowns, which were made by my best friend.

Starters: asiago (matured cheddar), baked brie, gorgonzola, and soft mascarpone with ginger, honey, almonds, and cranberries served with pesto stack, homemade breads, marmalade and preserve selection, and biltong & droëwoors

Main meal (tapas style): bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, lentil and wild rice salad, roasted greens, beef shin, rump, and chicken sosaties served with amazing dressings

Desserts: Creme Brûlée Cake, and Rosemary and Fig Cake

Processional – “Stay Alive” by Jose Gonzalez
