Intimate Southwest Colorado Wedding in the Mountains

Ali and Blake are your quintessential adventure couple, so it’s only fitting that their Southwest Colorado wedding was nothing short of exciting! The couple filled their wedding with personalized details, handmade by themselves, their friends, and their family. The most spectacular of these details was Ali’s bell-sleeve and guipure lace dress that was made by her mother-in-law. The gold and wood accents they used for the table décor perfectly tie in the rustic Colorado mountain vibe. Lauren Parker Photography worked her photography and videography magic to capture the pure joy and love in this wedding.

We wanted to create something intimate, unique, personal, and not mainstream. We wanted the locale to be meaningful to our history together and beautiful enough to justify the trip itself for our guests, so we selected a town in which we had our first mountain adventure together in the very beginning of our relationship. We wanted the guest list limited to those with whom we’ve shared real experiences and relationships. We wanted to involve our friends and family in the whole creative process. And we wanted to make every attempt to limit costs as much as possible.

I wore a handmade dress that my mother-in law made. It was pure white with bell sleeves and guipure lace. I also made a necklace the night before using gemstones and Swarovski crystal beads.

I gave my husband an antique handmade knife I’d found in Colorado. I attached a personalized note and asked someone to deliver it for me the morning of the wedding. He was absolutely thrilled!

We would never have been able to do it without our family and friends! All of the signs and many of the table decorations were made by Blake’s sister. Ali’s grandmother made the floral arrangements and our friends put together the bridal bouquet and boutonnieres. Ali’s aunt and uncle made all of the reception food, and her dad made the big “LOVE” light-up sign. It was truly a team effort!

At the end of the night, we requested that our guests partake in wearing costumes at our reception.
