The Couple: Evita and Alex
The Wedding: 4.26.13 – Casa China Blanca, Puerto Vallerta, Mexico
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Cinematic, timeless, intimate
What was your wedding color palette? Turquoise and teal with pops of red and gold
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Alex and I are total film buffs, in fact we met in a college film course over seven years ago! Since then, film has been a big part of our relationship and when it came to figuring out the aesthetics for our wedding day, we knew we wanted something breathtaking and grand that would make our guests feel like they had been transported into a scene out of a movie. With the guidance of the incredible Dazzling Details, we found a venue that fit our vision perfectly – in fact we realized later we had SEEN our venue in movies in the past! Dazzling brought to life the vintage chic wedding I had dreamed of, as well as created incredible custom marquee lights as another nod back to our love of film.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Our huge bridal party! Even though we were initially worried that we would have more guests standing at the front with us than sitting in the audience during our wedding, honoring the friends and family that have loved and supported us throughout our relationship is one of the most special things we remember about the day. We were constantly surrounded by our favorite people in the world and I’m so glad that we made this decision over our concerns about crowded group photos!
I found out what guys really do while the girls are getting their hair and makeup done: make a music video and shoot tons of incredible boy band-esque group photos! At least, that’s what Alex and his groomsmen did when they arrived at the villa before our first look. And I’ll admit, I’m jealous me and my girls didn’t get to do the same!
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? Make it personal – find all the big and little ways that you can make the wedding truly a reflection of you and your groom. Your guests will be able to tell! This meant for us big things like writing our own vows and asking our longtime friend who had never officiated before to marry us, to little things like spending way too much time selecting the music in our ceremony and French fries with our late night taco bar as a nod to Alex’s notoriety in our group of friends as the “Inhaler of All Things French Fry.” These little touches might be missed by some, but they let our friends and family know that despite the unusual setting and how fancy we all looked, at the heart of every detail and moment was Alex and me.
