Enchanted Charlotte Garden Wedding at The Duke Mansion

September 20, 2017 | colleen

The Duke Mansion‘s lush scenery was perfect for Arianne and Steven’s elegant garden wedding. With florals being so important to Arianne, she knew there was no one else for the job other than Kate Asire in creating the most whimsical, romantic bouquet. With the help of planning their wedding with Love and Honey Weddings, Arianne and Steven’s day was full of elegant details and personal touches. All Bliss Photography’s romantic style captured the essence of the day.

The Couple:

Arianne and Steven

The Wedding:

The Duke Mansion, Charlotte, North Carolina

We exchanged some wedding vows that we wrote on these little precious vow books to each other. Since we got married through the Catholic Church, we weren’t going to have the chance to read our own, so we decided to write our own to each other instead. I’ll never forget what Steve wrote which pressed my “tears button” like no other: “We are meant to walk, love, and enjoy life on earth and in heaven together” – I love that we’ll get to do just that. Thankfully I wasn’t wearing my make-up yet – thank god for timing.

Our wedding was on May 20th in Charlotte (which is known to have high temperatures around that time) and I chose a wool tuxedo. Yes, wool. My tuxedo was from Bonobo and it was a great Burgundy textured color with silk lapels – just so sharp, I couldn’t pass it up.

If you’re planning you’re own wedding, or are heavily involved in the planning process, let go of it all on your wedding day. It’s hard to do, but you’ll feel so much better. Also, stick to your plan – don’t try to squeeze things in last minute to please other around you!

We wanted it to be magical. Steve and I love the outdoors and value thoughtful organic & delicate details so we thought we should describe our wedding vibe as enchanted garden – airy and lush organic flowers, lots of trailing and loose greenery, handmade paper with deckled edges, curated and meaningful vintage stamps, a custom made map included in the invitation, our personalized wax seal with our wedding logo, delicate silk ribbons trailing from the bouquet, dusty blue linen tablecloths.

We immediately knew The Duke Mansion was the perfect place for us – it was intimate and it fit our enchanted garden wedding vision perfectly and it was intimate, lush greenery everywhere, just a dream.

I wore two dresses on my wedding day. My first dress was my “church dress.” I fell in love with that dress because of the subtle mixture of modern and vintage. It was an A-line wedding gown with all over delicate lace. It had a long beautiful tail and an open back for a touch of sexy so I just had to walk out with it! My second dress was by Jenny Packham and what I would call my dream dress – long lace sleeves, delicate beading, illusion back with lace-covered delicate buttons. I also love the 1920’s (Deco era) which I feel that dress evoked and it was great for dancing while still fitting the romantic, magical, enchanted garden theme.

Favorite wedding picture is me buttoning Ari up when she was changing into her second dress. It was our secret most memorable moment and love that it was captured.

We think our favorite moment was probably approaching the dinner tent and sitting down at our table surrounded by friends and family. At that point of the day we were quite ready to take a deep breath and unwind with our friends and relatives. Seeing everyone turn their heads towards us to cheer us on as we walked in was not only comforting but also quite emotional. Not to mention the amazing speeches delivered which left everyone not knowing whether to laugh or cry!

What was most important to us in planning our wedding was to make sure that we were creating an environment reflective of who we are. We met in Dubai and moved to Charlotte to start a new life together. We were getting married in a place that was our new home so we wanted to make sure we incorporated our background into it. We wanted to create an intimate environment for all our loved ones to feel like we were simply having a big party, so one of the most important things for us was to have everyone on the dance floor the whole night! We knew The Duke Mansion was perfect because it really created a homey environment.
