Stylish, Photojournalistic Warsaw, Poland Wedding – Ola and Jacek

May 1, 2012 | editorial team

I love seeing wedding submissions arrive here from all around the world, and this wedding from Warsaw, Poland totally took my breath away! Its edgy and photojournalistic wedding photos by Lukasz Bak of Velvet Studio are different than what we generally showcase here on What Junebug Loves, but they so perfectly represent couple Ola and Jacek and the feeling and atmosphere of their wedding day that I simply had to publish them. And no photo layouts or collages today either, just a selection of images, one by one, and the delightful back story from bride Ola. Enjoy!

What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Unpredictable, spontaneous, passionate.

What was your wedding color palette? Everything around the forest

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Lily of the valley came to us first, as we were looking for an elegant symbol, but also an unpretentious one. We felt that the forest theme was meaningful to us – birds, wood, and the smells from our childhood, and we were not wrong. Everything felt elegant but very natural. Also, Belvedere is full of trees and exotic flowers, so we did not want to change what was so special about the location.

Your wedding photography is wonderful – very photo journalistic and documentary style. How did you choose your photographer Lukasz Bak, and what was it like working with him? We recommend Lukasz to everyone we talk to. He is all you could dream of on your wedding day. He was like a little elf, so his photos are even more mysterious – how could we have not noticed him during the wedding? And we are the luckiest people on the planet earth – we have the most amazing photos we’ve ever seen. Those photos are more than we could ever have imagined. We are more than sure, that the photos taken by Lukasz will be still extraordinary and moving to us in the future. In our opinion Lukasz is one of the most emotionally intelligent artists, and we very much appreciate what he has given us.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? The moment when our bus broke down, the moment when our best friend was late to the wedding (as we were too!) but she was pretending not be, that was hilarious. Also our withered flowers, as it was too hot for them. The Nigerian guys playing barefoot on the traditional drums, the food we never even tasted, leaving the wedding at the 6 a.m. barefoot, tired and happy, riding in a taxi back home with no money…

What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? To calm down and stay relaxed as much as you can. To leave a huge space in your mind for unexpected situations, to concentrate on everyone but not yourself, to give others happiness and to stay filled with positive emotions. I realize that is the hardest thing to do when you have so much on your mind – but this is an absolute must if you want have a good memories from your wedding.
