The Couple: Stephanie and Nathan
The Wedding: 8.13.11 – Private Estate in Squaw Valley, California
The Photographer: Tim Halberg
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Stephanie and Nathan: Vintage garden chic.
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day
Stephanie: We are a bi-coastal couple, I’m from California, Nathan is from Massachusetts, and we knew that no matter where we held the event it would be a destination wedding for at least half of our guests. Knowing this, we worked to create the best experience for them that we could because we were so happy they wanted to come and celebrate with us. We tried to create a laid-back, vintage garden party atmosphere with outdoor games, a photo booth, and shuttles to and from the venue so people didn’t have to worry about drinking and driving. We also each picked one thing that was important to us and worked hard to find the best vendors – for Nathan, it was the food, and for me it was the band. Both were awesome. As for the peacock motif, I just think peacock feathers are pretty, and it pretty much let us take the overall design anywhere we wanted to go since there were no color or thematic restrictions.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Stephanie and Nathan: The one that stands out is having my brother and cousins play for our first dance. It felt that much more special because people we loved were involved in that moment. I am also glad that we chose to have a sweetheart table at the reception since it really gave us a chance to steal a few moments together. Finally, I’m happy that we worked with a florist who wasn’t afraid to experiment with different types of flowers, plants, and arrangements. We were able to keep the cost of the arrangements low without skimping by going with a lot of local plants and beautiful greenery. I know this can be a large part of the budget for many weddings, but Diana was awesome with everything.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Tim Halberg and his imagery?
Stephanie: I fell in love with his work after being referred by my coordinator, Heather, and felt like we really connected when talking over the phone. I knew immediately that we would get along and have fun on the wedding day and that the photos would tell the story and the capture the ambience of our wedding day. Tim’s adventurous spirit was a great mix for our playful demeanor as a couple.
